Chapter 4.1 - Book of Women

Allah Almighty says : (When you divorce women and they have ˹almost˺ reached the end of their waiting period, either retain them honourably or let them go honourably) Al-Baqara 2: 231. What does the verse the mean? And what is to be learnt from it? قال تعالى :” وَلَا تُمْسِكُوهُنَّ ضِرَارًا لِّتَعْتَدُوا ۚ” البقرة 2: 231 ما معنى هذه الآية؟ و ما الذي يستفاد منها؟

How many times is the husband allowed to pronounce the divorce? And what is the difference between each one? كم عدد الطلقات التي أعطاها الشارع الحكيم للزوج؟ وما الفرق بين كل طلقة وأخرى؟

What is the legitimate ruling on a man having sexual relation with his wife at the time of her menstruation? ما الحكم الشرعي في جماع المرأة في وقت حيضها؟

What is the Idah (waiting period) of the divorced female before she is able to marry again? ما هي عدة المطلقة؟ العدة هي الفترة التي تنتظر فيها الزوجة المطلقة حتى تستطيع أن تتزوج؟

What is the Iddah (waiting period) of the widow after her husband dies, before she is able to marry again? ما هي عدة المتوفى عنها زوجها؟ العدة هي الفترة الزمنية التي يجب أن تنتظرها المرأة التي توفي زوجها بعد وفاته قبل أن تتزوج مرة أخرى)؟

What are the means set by religious scholars to solve the disputes between spouses? ما هي السبل التي وضعها الشارع الحكيم لحلِّ الخلافات التي تقع بين الزوجين؟

Is a mother obliged to nurse her baby? هل يجب على المرأة إرضاع طفلها؟

What is the ruling on accusing a person of indecency whether it is a man or a woman? ما حكم اتهام الناس بالفاحشة رجلا كان المتهم أو امرأة؟

What is the ruling for a woman who has a relationship of sexual nature with another woman? ما حكم معاشرة المرأة للمرأة؟

What is the meaning of Allah’s words: ((And those who accuse their wives ˹of adultery˺ but have no witness except themselves, the accuser must testify, swearing four times by Allah that he is telling the truth,)? What does this Ayah refer to? ما معنى قوله تعالى :(وَالَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ أَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ شُهَدَاءُ إِلَّا أَنفُسُهُمْ فَشَهَادَةُ أَحَدِهِمْ أَرْبَعُ شَهَادَاتٍ بِاللهِ إِنَّهُ لَمِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ” ) ؟ ما الذي نرشد إليه هذه الآية؟

Allah Almighty says: (For men there is a share in what their parents and close relatives leave, and for women there is a share in what their parents and close relatives leave—whether it is little or much. ˹These are˺ obligatory shares.) An-Nisa 4:7 . Why did the Quran mention the right of a woman to inherit just like that of a man? قال تعالى: ( لِّلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَالِدَانِ وَالْأَقْرَبُونَ وَلِلنِّسَاءِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَالِدَانِ وَالْأَقْرَبُونَ مِمَّا قَلَّ مِنْهُ أَوْ كَثُرَ ۚ نَصِيبًا مَّفْرُوضًا ) النساء : 7 لما نص القرآن على أحقية المرأة بالإرث كأحقية الرجل؟

The Shar’ allowed the marriage of a man to four women. What condition is required to allow this? أباح الشرع الزواج بأربع نسوة. فما الشرط الذي اشترط لإباحة ذلك؟

Who are the women men are forbidden to marry and mentioned in this verse (˹Also˺ forbidden to you for marriage are your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, your paternal and maternal aunts, your brother’s daughters, your sister’s daughters, your foster-mothers, your foster-sisters, your mothers-in-law, your stepdaughters under your guardianship if you have consummated marriage with their mothers—but if you have not, then you can marry them—nor the wives of your own sons, nor two sisters together at the same time—except what was done previously. Surely Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful) ? Who is not mentioned in this verse and are forbidden to marry? من هن النساء التي يحرم على الرجل نكاحهن والمذكورات في هذه الآية ( حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ أُمَّهَاتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُكُمْ وَأَخَوَاتُكُمْ وَعَمَّاتُكُمْ وَخَالَاتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُ الْأَخِ وَبَنَاتُ الْأُخْتِ وَأُمَّهَاتُكُمُ اللَّاتِي أَرْضَعْنَكُمْ وَأَخَوَاتُكُم مِّنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ وَأُمَّهَاتُ نِسَائِكُمْ وَرَبَائِبُكُمُ اللَّاتِي فِي حُجُورِكُم مِّن نِّسَائِكُمُ اللَّاتِي دَخَلْتُم بِهِنَّ فَإِن لَّمْ تَكُونُوا دَخَلْتُم بِهِنَّ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَحَلَائِلُ أَبْنَائِكُمُ الَّذِينَ مِنْ أَصْلَابِكُمْ وَأَن تَجْمَعُوا بَيْنَ الْأُخْتَيْنِ إِلَّا مَا قَدْ سَلَفَ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا ‎؟ ومن هن اللاتي لم يذكرن في هذه الآية ويحرم نكاحهن؟

It is permissible for a woman to show her adornment to some men if she can guarantee it would not cause fitnah (hindering from the path of Allah) ; who are those? يجوز للمرأة أن تبدي زينتها لبعض الرجال إن أمنت الفتنة فمن هم أولئك ؟

For how long does the Noble Quran instruct mothers to breastfeed their babies? ما أكثر مدة الرضاع؟

What did Allah Almighty command the young man, who does not have the means to get married, to do? What do the guardians have to do towards those who are not able to get married? بم أمر الله-عز وجل- الشاب الذي لا يجد مالاً يتزوج به؟ وما الذي يجب على الأولياء تجاه أولئك الذين لا يجدون نكاحًا؟

What is the meaning of a woman’s ill-conduct, and is the husband obliged to support her in that case? ما معني نشوز المرأة، وهل يجب علي الزوج الانفاق عليها؟

Why is it not permitted for a woman to marry three or four men like men who are permitted to marry four women? لماذا لا يجوز للمرأة أن تتزوج بثلاثة أو أربعة رجال، كما يحق للرجل الزواج بثلاث أو أربع زوجات؟

Why is a Muslim woman not allowed to get married to a man of a different religion, while the man is allowed to marry a woman who is of a different religion? لماذا لا يجوز للمرأة المسلمة الزواج من الرجل الكتابي، ويجوز للمسلم الزواج من الكتابية؟

What is the ruling on forcing one’s daughter to marry a man she doesn’t want? ما حكم إجبار الولي ابنته على الزواج من رجل لا تريده؟

Allah Almighty says: (Allah commands you regarding your children: the share of the male will be twice that of the female. ) What do we understand from this distribution of an inheritance? قال تعالى : “( يوصِيكُمُ اللَّهُ فِي أَوْلَادِكُمْ ۖ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْأُنثَيَيْنِ)” ما الذي يمكن فهمه ُمن توزيع الشرع للتركة بهذه الأنصبة المذكورة ؟

Nowadays, many women work like men, contribute to home finances, and have financial obligations, so does the text regarding inheritance “the share of the male will be twice that of the female” still apply? في عصرنا هذا و البنت تعمل مثل الشاب و يمكن أن تساهم في مصروف البيت و عندها التزامات مالية، هل لا يزال النص :” للذكر مثل حظ الأنثيين” بالنسبة للميراث يطبق؟

What is the meaning of ‘ ˹female˺ captives in your possession’ that is mentioned in the Qur’an? And does it still exist to this day? Why did Islam even legislate it? ما معنى ‘ما ملكت أيمانكم’ الوارد ذكرها في القرآن؟ وهل لا زالت موجودة إلى يومنا هذا؟ ولم شرعها الإسلام أصلاً؟

Allah Almighty says, “Men are the caretakers of women”. In today’s world where women can participate evenly with men in education, work, earning, and spending; can women be equal to men in caretaking? قال الله تعالى: ” الرِّجَالُ ‌قَوَّامُونَ ‌عَلَى ‌النِّسَاءِ” في ظل حياتنا العصرية اليوم ومشاركة المرأة للرجل في ميادين العلم والعمل، والكسب والإنفاق على البيت. هل يمكن أن تكون المرأة مساوية للرجل في القوامة؟
