Surah Al-A'la closes with two verses: indeed, this is in the former scriptures, the scriptures of Ibrahim and Musa (87:18-19). 2. What the Former Scriptures Contain | ما في الصحف الأولى
Ibn Kathir reports that Ibn Jarir took the word this to point to the verses just before: successful is the one who purifies himself, remembers the name of his Lord and prays; but you prefer the life of this world, while the Hereafter is better and more lasting (87:14-17). Ibn Kathir called this a good and strong choice. Al-Qurtubi reports that Qatada and Ibn Zayd said: the books of Allah followed one another, as you hear, in saying that the Hereafter is better and more lasting than this world.
وَالْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ (سورة الأعلى: 17)
نقل ابن كثير أن ابن جرير اختار أن الإشارة في قوله (إن هذا) إلى قوله تعالى: (قد أفلح من تزكى * وذكر اسم ربه فصلى * بل تؤثرون الحياة الدنيا * والآخرة خير وأبقى) (الأعلى 87: 14-17)، وقال ابن كثير: وهذا اختيار حسن قوي. ونقل القرطبي عن قتادة وابن زيد: تتابعت كتب الله كما تسمعون أن الآخرة خير وأبقى من الدنيا.
3. The Same Pair in Surah An-Najm | الاسمان معا في سورة النجم
Surah An-Najm also names the two together: or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Musa, and of Ibrahim, who fulfilled (53:36-37). Ibn Kathir reports from Qatada that Ibrahim fulfilled his obedience to Allah and conveyed His message to His creation, the view that Ibn Jarir chose.
أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِي صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ * وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ الَّذِي وَفَّىٰ (سورة النجم: 36-37)
ويجتمع الاسمان أيضا في سورة النجم: (أم لم ينبأ بما في صحف موسى * وإبراهيم الذي وفى) (النجم 53: 36-37)، ونقل ابن كثير عن قتادة أن معنى (وفى): وفى طاعة الله وأدى رسالته إلى خلقه، وهو اختيار ابن جرير.
4. Ibrahim and Musa Among the Messengers | إبراهيم وموسى في الرسل

Explaining who fulfilled, Ibn Kathir cites: and when his Lord tested Ibrahim with commands and he fulfilled them, He said: I will make you a leader for the people (2:124). Of Musa, Allah says: and Allah spoke to Musa directly (4:164).
وَإِذِ ابْتَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ رَبُّهُ بِكَلِمَاتٍ فَأَتَمَّهُنَّ ۖ قَالَ إِنِّي جَاعِلُكَ لِلنَّاسِ إِمَامًا (سورة البقرة: 124)
إبراهيم وموسى عليهما السلام من الأنبياء المذكورين في القرآن الكريم، وقد استشهد ابن كثير في تفسير قوله (وإبراهيم الذي وفى) (النجم 53: 37) بقوله تعالى: (وإذ ابتلى إبراهيم ربه بكلمات فأتمهن قال إني جاعلك للناس إماما) (البقرة 2: 124)، وقال تعالى عن موسى: (وكلم الله موسى تكليما) (النساء 4: 164).
