1. Mudhammatan: Deep Dark Green | مدهامتان: شدة الخضرة
Ibn Kathir reports from Ibn Abbas that mudhammatan means the two gardens have turned dark from greenness, because they are so abundantly watered; Qatada said: green from watering and soft, and Muhammad ibn Ka'b said: full of greenness.
مُدْهَامَّتَانِ (سورة الرحمن: 64)
نقل ابن كثير عن ابن عباس في قوله (مدهامتان): قد اسودتا من الخضرة، من شدة الري من الماء، وقال قتادة: خضراوان من الري ناعمتان، وقال محمد بن كعب: ممتلئتان من الخضرة.
2. Two Gardens Besides the Two Gardens | ومن دونهما جنتان
Surah Ar-Rahman first describes two gardens for whoever fears standing before his Lord (55:46), then says: and besides them are two other gardens (55:62), and describes these as mudhammatan (55:64). وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ * مُدْهَامَّتَانِ (سورة الرحمن: 62، 64)
تصف سورة الرحمن أولا جنتين لمن خاف مقام ربه (الرحمن 55: 46)، ثم تقول: (ومن دونهما جنتان) (الرحمن 55: 62)، وتصفهما بأنهما (مدهامتان) (الرحمن 55: 64).
3. The One-Word Verses of the Mushaf | الآيات ذات الكلمة الواحدة
In the standard numbering of the Mushaf there are 28 verses of one word. Twenty-six of them are the first verse of their surah: opening letters such as Alif Lam Mim and Ha Mim, oaths such as By the dawn and By al-Asr, and words such as Al-Haqqah and Al-Qari'ah.
