Surah Yusuf is unique in the Quran for narrating one Prophet's story from beginning to end within a single continuous surah, rather than in scattered passages across several surahs as with most other prophetic accounts. Allah introduces it directly as a superior narrative: "We relate to you the best of stories through Our revelation of this Quran, though before this you were totally unaware of them" (Surah Yusuf 12:3).
نَحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ أَحْسَنَ الْقَصَصِ بِمَا أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ هَـٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ وَإِن كُنتَ مِن قَبْلِهِ لَمِنَ الْغَافِلِينَ (سورة يوسف: 3)

تنفرد سورة يوسف في القرآن الكريم بسرد قصة نبي واحد من بدايتها إلى نهايتها ضمن سورة واحدة متصلة، بدلا من تفرقها في مقاطع متناثرة عبر عدة سور كما هو الحال في معظم القصص النبوية الأخرى. ويقدمها الله تعالى مباشرة بوصفها سردا متميزا: "نحن نقص عليك أحسن القصص بما أوحينا إليك هذا القرآن وإن كنت من قبله لمن الغافلين" (سورة يوسف: 3).

Surah Yusuf is also one of only six surahs in the Quran that carry a Prophet's name directly, alongside Surahs Nuh, Hud, Ibrahim, Yunus, and Muhammad, covered in Which Surahs Are Named After Prophets? Naming an entire surah after Yusuf reflects how completely his story is contained within it.

The surah follows Yusuf from his brothers' jealousy and betrayal, through his years of trial in Egypt including his imprisonment covered in Which Prophet Was Imprisoned, and Where?, to his eventual reunion with his family. Because the entire arc unfolds within one surah, his name naturally recurs throughout it far more than a prophet whose story is spread across many surahs.

تتبع السورة يوسف بدءا من حسد إخوته وخيانتهم، مرورا بسنوات ابتلائه في مصر بما في ذلك سجنه الذي تناولناه في مقال من هو النبي الذي سُجن، وأين كان سجنه؟، وصولا إلى لم شمله بأسرته في النهاية. ولأن القصة بأكملها تتكشف ضمن سورة واحدة، يتكرر اسمه بشكل طبيعي عبرها أكثر بكثير من نبي تفرقت قصته عبر سور عديدة.

Surah Yusuf is the twelfth chapter of the Quran, a Makkan surah of 111 verses, revealed in full before the Prophet Muhammad's migration to Madinah. Its uninterrupted narrative structure, following Yusuf continuously from his boyhood dream to his reunion with his family, is part of why his name is repeated so consistently across the surah rather than appearing only in isolated passages.

سورة يوسف هي السورة الثانية عشرة في القرآن الكريم، وهي سورة مكية من 111 آية، نزلت كاملة قبل هجرة النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم إلى المدينة. وبنيتها السردية المتصلة، التي تتبع يوسف باستمرار من رؤياه في صباه حتى لم شمله بأسرته، هي جزء من سبب تكرار اسمه بثبات عبر السورة بدلا من ظهوره في مقاطع منفصلة فقط.

Near the story's close, Yusuf instructs his brothers: "Go with this shirt of mine and cast it over my father's face, and he will regain his sight. Then come back to me with your whole family" (Surah Yusuf 12:93). This moment, restoring his father Ya'qub's eyesight, comes near the very end of the narrative and mirrors its opening, tying the surah's beginning and conclusion together as one continuous account.
اذْهَبُوا بِقَمِيصِي هَـٰذَا فَأَلْقُوهُ عَلَىٰ وَجْهِ أَبِي يَأْتِ بَصِيرًا وَأْتُونِي بِأَهْلِكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ (سورة يوسف: 93)

قرب نهاية القصة، يوجه يوسف إخوته قائلا: "اذهبوا بقميصي هذا فألقوه على وجه أبي يأت بصيرا وأتوني بأهلكم أجمعين" (سورة يوسف: 93). وهذه اللحظة، التي تعيد البصر لأبيه يعقوب، تأتي قرب نهاية السرد وتعكس افتتاحه، فتربط بداية السورة بخاتمتها في رواية واحدة متصلة.
