Moses left Midian heading towards Egypt, and when it got dark, he lost his way on that cold night. Then he saw a fire and went to it, to ask the people there about the way and to take a brand from it to light his way and to get warmth from it.
(Has the story of Moses reached you ˹O Prophet˺? When he saw a fire, he said to his family, “Wait here, ˹for˺ I have spotted a fire. Perhaps I can bring you a torch from it, or find some guidance at the fire.” But when he approached it, he was called, “O Moses! It is truly I. I am your Lord! So take off your sandals, for you are in the sacred valley of Tuwa. I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed. ‘It is truly I. I am Allah! There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Me. So worship Me ˹alone˺, and establish prayer for My remembrance.’ The Hour is sure to come. My Will is to keep it hidden, so that every soul may be rewarded according to their efforts.) Ta-Ha 20:9-15
(When Moses had completed the term and was travelling with his family, he spotted a fire on the side of Mount Tur. He said to his family, “Stay here, ˹for˺ I have spotted a fire. خرج موسى من مدين متوجها إلى مصر فلما أظلم عليه الليل أضاع الطريق وكان الجو باردا فأتى فرأى النار فأتاها ليسأل أهلها عن الطريق وليأخذ منها قطعة يستنير بها في الطريق ويحصل معها على الدفء.
(وَهَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰ ﴿٩﴾ إِذْ رَأَىٰ نَارًا فَقَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ امْكُثُوا إِنِّي آنَسْتُ نَارًا لَّعَلِّي آتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِقَبَسٍ أَوْ أَجِدُ عَلَى النَّارِ هُدًى ﴿١٠﴾ فَلَمَّا أَتَاهَا نُودِيَ يَا مُوسَىٰ ﴿١١﴾ إِنِّي أَنَا رَبُّكَ فَاخْلَعْ نَعْلَيْكَ ۖ إِنَّكَ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى ﴿١٢﴾ وَأَنَا اخْتَرْتُكَ فَاسْتَمِعْ لِمَا يُوحَىٰ ﴿١٣﴾ إِنَّنِي أَنَا اللَّـهُ لَا إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا أَنَا فَاعْبُدْنِي وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ لِذِكْرِي ﴿١٤﴾ إِنَّ السَّاعَةَ آتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا تَسْعَىٰ) طه 20: 9-15
(فَلَمَّا قَضَىٰ مُوسَى الْأَجَلَ وَسَارَ بِأَهْلِهِ آنَسَ مِن جَانِبِ الطُّورِ نَارًا قَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ امْكُثُوا إِنِّي آنَسْتُ نَارًا لَّعَلِّي آتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِخَبَرٍ أَوْ جَذْوَةٍ مِّنَ النَّارِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَصْطَلُونَ ﴿٢٩﴾ فَلَمَّا أَتَاهَا نُودِيَ مِن شَاطِئِ الْوَادِ الْأَيْمَنِ فِي الْبُقْعَةِ الْمُبَارَكَةِ مِنَ الشَّجَرَةِ أَن يَا مُوسَىٰ إِنِّي أَنَا اللَّـهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ) القصص 28: 29-30

Musa did not go toward the fire expecting revelation; he sought a torch to light the way and warmth against the cold, having just left Midian traveling with his family toward Egypt. This ordinary, practical motive sets up the sharp contrast with what he actually encountered at the fire.
لم يتجه موسى نحو النار متوقعا وحيا؛ بل بحث عن شعلة تنير الطريق ودفء يقيه البرد، بعد أن غادر مدين للتو مسافرا بأهله نحو مصر. وهذا الدافع العادي والعملي يمهد للتباين الحاد مع ما واجهه فعليا عند النار.
2. Called by Name From the Sacred Valley of Tuwa | نداءٌ باسمه من وادي طوى المقدس
As Musa approaches, he is addressed directly by Allah with the words “O Moses!”, called from the tree on the right side of the valley, in the blessed spot, as Al-Qasas puts it, while Ta-Ha names the place as the sacred valley of Tuwa. Read together, the two surahs anchor the event to a real, specific place rather than a vague vision. وبينما يقترب موسى، يُخاطب مباشرة: “يا موسى”، من الشجرة في شاطئ الوادي الأيمن في البقعة المباركة كما في سورة القصص، وتسمي سورة طه المكان بالوادي المقدس طوى. ومعا تثبت السورتان الحدث في مكان حقيقي ومحدد لا رؤية مبهمة. وطور سيناء الذي وقع عنده هذا النداء أقسم الله به في سورة التين مع التين والزيتون.

Right after Allah makes Himself known to Musa as his Lord, Musa is instructed to remove his sandals because he stands in the sacred valley. This ordering matters: reverence for the sanctity of the place comes before the core message of the revelation is delivered, establishing the seriousness of the encounter.
بعد أن يعرّف الله موسى بأنه ربه مباشرة، يُطلب من موسى خلع نعليه لأنه في الوادي المقدس. ولهذا الترتيب أهميته: فتوقير قداسة المكان يأتي قبل تبليغ جوهر الرسالة، مؤسسا جدية اللقاء.

Allah tells Musa directly, “I have chosen you,” immediately followed by the instruction to listen to what would be revealed. يخبر الله موسى مباشرة: “وأنا اخترتك”، متبوعا فورا بأمر الاستماع لما سيُوحى. وتسمية اختياره صراحة، قبل تبليغ جوهر الرسالة، يؤطر كل ما يلي بوصفه موجها لشخص اختير عمدا، لا رسالة عُثر عليها مصادفة.

What Allah reveals first is foundational rather than situational: His own oneness, “there is no god except Me,” the command to worship Him alone and establish prayer, and a reminder that the Hour is coming, its timing deliberately kept hidden so that each soul is rewarded according to its efforts.
