بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Surah Al-Ikhlas is the 112th chapter of the Quran, containing 4 verses. Revealed in Makkah in response to a question about Allah’s nature, it is one of the most concise and profound chapters of the Quran, declaring that He is Allah, the One; Allah, the Eternal Refuge upon whom all creation depends; He neither begets nor is He begotten; and there is none comparable to Him. Tafsir of the Verses
{ قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ }
(1) – قُلْ يَا مُحَمَّدُ لِمَنْ سَأَلَكَ مُسْتَهْزِئاً: صِفْ لَنَا رَبَّكَ: إِنَّ رَبِّي هُوَ الوَاحِدُ الأَحَدُ، المُنَزَّهُ عَنِ التَّعَدُّدِ، وَعَنِ الزَّوْجَةِ وَالصَّاحِبَةِ وَالوَالِدِ وَالوَلَدِ.
Surah Al-Ikhlas: Verse 1
1. Say, O Mohammad, to whoever asks mockingly: “Describe your God to us!” My God is the One and Only. He is purified of plurality, and is far above having a spouse, companion, father or son.
{ ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ }
(2) – وَهُوَ الذِي يَقْصدُهُ العِبَادُ فِي الحَاجَاتِ، وَيَتَوَّجَّهُونَ إِلَيهِ بِالدُّعَاءِ وَالرَّجَاءِ فِيمَا أَهَمَّهُمْ وَأَغَمَّهُمْ.
الصَّمَدُ – المَقْصُودُ فِي الحَاجَاتِ.
الصَّمَدُ – المَقْصُودُ فِي الحَاجَاتِ.
Surah Al-Ikhlas: Verse 2
2. He is the One whom His creatures seek when they are in need. They approach Him with prayers and pleas in their distress or grief.
{ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ }
(3) – تَنَزَّهَ رَبُّنَا عَنْ أَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُ وَلَدٌ.
وَهَذَا رَدٌّ عَلَى مُشْرِكِي العَرَبِ الذِينَ كَانُوا يَقُولُونَ إِنَّ المَلاَئِكَةَ بَنَاتُ اللهِ.
وَرَدٌّ عَلَى مَزَاعِمِ النَّصَارَى الذِينَ جَعَلُوا المَسِيحَ ابْنَ اللهِ، وَعَلَى اليَهُودِ الذِينَ قَالُوا: إِنَّ عُزَيْراً هُوَ ابْنُ اللهِ.
وَاللهُ تَعَالَى لَمْ يُولَدْ لأَِنَّ ذَلِكَ يَقْتَضِي مَجَانَسَتَهُ لِسِوَاهُ، كَمَا يَقْتَضِي سَبْقَ العَدَمِ قَبْلَ الوُجُودِ، تَنَزَّهَ اللهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ.
وَهَذَا رَدٌّ عَلَى مُشْرِكِي العَرَبِ الذِينَ كَانُوا يَقُولُونَ إِنَّ المَلاَئِكَةَ بَنَاتُ اللهِ.
وَرَدٌّ عَلَى مَزَاعِمِ النَّصَارَى الذِينَ جَعَلُوا المَسِيحَ ابْنَ اللهِ، وَعَلَى اليَهُودِ الذِينَ قَالُوا: إِنَّ عُزَيْراً هُوَ ابْنُ اللهِ.
وَاللهُ تَعَالَى لَمْ يُولَدْ لأَِنَّ ذَلِكَ يَقْتَضِي مَجَانَسَتَهُ لِسِوَاهُ، كَمَا يَقْتَضِي سَبْقَ العَدَمِ قَبْلَ الوُجُودِ، تَنَزَّهَ اللهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ.
Surah Al-Ikhlas: Verse 3
3. He is far above having a child. This is an answer to the Arab polytheists who say that the angels are the daughters of Allah, the Christians who believe that Jesus is the son of Allah, and the Jews who say that Ezra is the son of Allah. Allah Almighty was not fathered by anyone; otherwise, he should be associated with an equal. Also, this belief implies the presence of something preceding the nothingness before existence. Allah is purified of that.
{ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَّهُ كُفُواً أَحَدٌ }
(4) – لَيْسَ لَهُ نِدٌّ وَلاَ مَثِيلٌ. وَفِي هَذَا نَفْيٌ لِمَا يَعْتَقِدُهُ بَعْضُ المُبْطِلِينَ مِنْ أَنَّ للهِ نِدّاً فِي أَفْعَالِهِ كَمَا ذَهَبَ إِلَى ذَلِكَ بَعْضُ مُشْرِكِي العَرَبِ الذِينَ جَعَلُوا المَلاَئِكَةَ شُرَكَاءَ للهِ.
كُفواً – مَكَافِئاً.
كُفواً – مَكَافِئاً.
Surah Al-Ikhlas: Verse 4
4. He has no peer and no one is like Him. This negates the belief held by some liars that Allah has an equal in His deeds. This belief was held by some Arab polytheists who made the angels partners of Allah.
