11 آية
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Surah Ad-Duha is the 93rd chapter of the Quran, containing 11 verses. Revealed in Makkah during a pause in revelation, when some began to mock that his Lord had forsaken him, it swears by the morning brightness and the still night that Allah has neither forsaken the Prophet nor is displeased with him, and that the life to come is better for him than this one. The surah recalls Allah’s past favours: finding him an orphan and giving him shelter, finding him unaware of the Scripture and guiding him, finding him in need and enriching him, and commands him in turn not to oppress the orphan, not to turn away the one who asks, and to speak of the bounty of his Lord. Tafsir of the Verses
{ وَٱلضُّحَىٰ }
(1) – تَأَخَّرَ الوَحْيُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَتْرَةً مِنَ الزَّمَنِ، فَحزِنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ حُزْناً شَدِيداً، خَوْفاً مِنْ أَنْ يَكُونَ رَبُّهُ قَدْ غَضِبَ عَلَيْهِ، أَوْ كَرِهَهُ (قَلاَهُ).
وَقِيلَ إِنَّهُ حِينَمَا تَأَخَّرَ الوَحْيُ عَنِ الرَّسُولِ قَالَ مُشْرِكُو قُرَيشٍ: وَدَّعَ مُحَمَّداً رَبُّهُ. فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ تَعَالَى هَذِهِ السُّورَةَ.
وَقَدْ أَقْسَمَ اللهُ تَعَالَى فِي مَطْلَعِهَا بِالضُّحَى – وَهُوَ صَدْرُ النَّهَارِ – وَمَا جَعَلَ فِيهِ مِنْ ضِيَاءٍ.
وَقِيلَ إِنَّهُ حِينَمَا تَأَخَّرَ الوَحْيُ عَنِ الرَّسُولِ قَالَ مُشْرِكُو قُرَيشٍ: وَدَّعَ مُحَمَّداً رَبُّهُ. فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ تَعَالَى هَذِهِ السُّورَةَ.
وَقَدْ أَقْسَمَ اللهُ تَعَالَى فِي مَطْلَعِهَا بِالضُّحَى – وَهُوَ صَدْرُ النَّهَارِ – وَمَا جَعَلَ فِيهِ مِنْ ضِيَاءٍ.
Surah Ad-Duha: Verse 1
1. The revelation did not come to the Prophet for a period of time which saddened the Messenger of Allah greatly. He feared that his Lord was angry or displeased with him. It is said that when the revelation was thus delayed, the polytheists of Quraish said: “Mohammad has bid his Lord farewell.” Allah Almighty then revealed this chapter. At the beginning of the chapter, Allah Almighty swears by the morning light, which is the prime of day.
{ وَٱللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ }
{ ٱللَّيْلِ }
(2) – وَأَقْسَمَ تَعَالَى بِاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَكَنَ فَأَظْلَمَ.
سَجَى – سَكَنَ أَوِ اشْتَدَّ ظَلاَمُهُ.
(2) – وَأَقْسَمَ تَعَالَى بِاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَكَنَ فَأَظْلَمَ.
سَجَى – سَكَنَ أَوِ اشْتَدَّ ظَلاَمُهُ.
Surah Ad-Duha: Verse 2
2. Then Allah Almighty swears by the night when it is still and dark.
{ مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ }
(3) – مَا تَخَلَّى عَنْكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا أَبْغَضَكَ.
قَلَى – أَبْغَضَ.
قَلَى – أَبْغَضَ.
Surah Ad-Duha: Verse 3
3. Your Lord has not forsaken you nor is He displeased.
{ وَلَلآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَّكَ مِنَ ٱلأُولَىٰ }
{ لَلآخِرَةُ }
(4) – وَإِنَّ مُسْتَقْبَلَ حَيَاتِكَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنْ مَاضِيهَا، وَإِنَّكَ تَزْدَادُ عِزّاً وَرِفْعَةً كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، وَلَعَاقِبةُ أَمْرِكَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ بِدَايَتِهِ.
(وَقِيلَ إِنَّ المَعْنَى: هُوَ أَنَّ الدَّارَ الآخِرَةَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الدَّارِ الدُّنْيَا).
(4) – وَإِنَّ مُسْتَقْبَلَ حَيَاتِكَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنْ مَاضِيهَا، وَإِنَّكَ تَزْدَادُ عِزّاً وَرِفْعَةً كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، وَلَعَاقِبةُ أَمْرِكَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ بِدَايَتِهِ.
(وَقِيلَ إِنَّ المَعْنَى: هُوَ أَنَّ الدَّارَ الآخِرَةَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الدَّارِ الدُّنْيَا).
Surah Ad-Duha: Verse 4
4. Your future life will be better than your past, for you are increasingly honoured and elevated day by day. Therefore, the end will be better than the beginning. (It is said also: That the Hereafter is better for you than this present life on earth).
{ وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَىٰ }
(5) – وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ سَوْفَ يُوَالِي عََلَيْكَ نِعَمَهُ حَتَّى تَرْضَى، وَمِنْ هَذِهِ النِّعَمِ تَوَارُدُ الوَحْيِ عَلَيْكَ بِمَا فِيهِ إِرْشَادُكَ وَإِرْشَادُ قَوْمِكَ إِلَى مَا فِيهِ سَعَادَتُهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ، وَسَيُظْهِرُ اللهُ دِينَكَ عَلَى سَائِرِ الأَدْيَانِ.
Surah Ad-Duha: Verse 5
5. Your Lord will grant you His bounties until you are pleased. Among these are successive revelations to you, to guide you and your people to what is best for their life on earth and the Hereafter. Allah will let your religion prevail above all others.
{ أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيماً فَآوَىٰ }
{ فَآوَىٰ }
(6) – أَلَمْ تَكُنْ يَتِيماً لاَ أَبَ لَكَ وَلاَ أُمَّ يَهْتَمَّانِ بِأَمْرِكَ، وَيعْتَنِيَانِ بِشُؤُونِكَ، فَتَعَهَّدَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا زَالَ يَحْمِيكَ وَيَتَعَهَّدُكَ بِرِعَايَتِهِ حَتَّى بَلَغَتْ ذُرْوَةَ الكَمَالِ الإِنْسَانِي؟.
(6) – أَلَمْ تَكُنْ يَتِيماً لاَ أَبَ لَكَ وَلاَ أُمَّ يَهْتَمَّانِ بِأَمْرِكَ، وَيعْتَنِيَانِ بِشُؤُونِكَ، فَتَعَهَّدَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا زَالَ يَحْمِيكَ وَيَتَعَهَّدُكَ بِرِعَايَتِهِ حَتَّى بَلَغَتْ ذُرْوَةَ الكَمَالِ الإِنْسَانِي؟.
Surah Ad-Duha: Verse 6
6. Were you not an orphan, with no mother or father to care for you, but your Lord sponsored you, protected you and cared for you until you reached the peak of human perfection?
{ وَوَجَدَكَ ضَآلاًّ فَهَدَىٰ }
(7) – وَوَجَدَكَ حَائِراً مُضْطَرِباً فِي أَمْرِكَ، إِذْ وَجَدْتَ قَوْمَكَ فِي ضَلاَلٍ فِي عِبَادَتِهِمْ وَمُعْتَقَدِهِمْ، فَهَدَاكَ إِلَى الحَقِّ، وَاخْتَصَّكَ بِرِسَالَتِهِ، وَأَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكَ وَحْيَهُ؟.
ضَالاً – حَائِراً أَوْ غَافِلاً عَنْ أَحْكَامِ الشَّرْعِ.
ضَالاً – حَائِراً أَوْ غَافِلاً عَنْ أَحْكَامِ الشَّرْعِ.
Surah Ad-Duha: Verse 7
7. And He found you worried and confused because you found your people misguided in their worship and belief; but He guided you to the Truth and chose you to carry His Message, and sent down His revelation upon you.
{ وَوَجَدَكَ عَآئِلاً فَأَغْنَىٰ }
{ عَآئِلاً }
(8) – وَكُنْتَ فَقِيراً لَمْ يَتْرُكْ لَكَ وَالِدَاكَ شَيئَاً تَعِيشُ بِهِ فَأَنْجَاكَ اللهُ مِنَ الفَقْرِ وَأَغْنَاكَ.
عَائِلاً – فَقِيراً مُعْدِماً.
(8) – وَكُنْتَ فَقِيراً لَمْ يَتْرُكْ لَكَ وَالِدَاكَ شَيئَاً تَعِيشُ بِهِ فَأَنْجَاكَ اللهُ مِنَ الفَقْرِ وَأَغْنَاكَ.
عَائِلاً – فَقِيراً مُعْدِماً.
Surah Ad-Duha: Verse 8
8. And you were needy, for your parents did not leave you anything to live on. Allah saved you from poverty and gave you riches.
{ فَأَمَّا ٱلْيَتِيمَ فَلاَ تَقْهَرْ }
(9) – وَلِذَلِكَ كَانَ عَلَيْكَ أَنْ لاَ تَقْهَرَ اليَتِيمَ وَتَسْتَذِلَّهُ، بَلِ ارْفَعْ مِنْ شَأْنِهِ بالأَدَبِ، وَهَذَّبْ نَفْسَهُ بِمَكَارِمِ الأَخْلاَقِ لِيَكُونَ عُضْواً نَافِعاً فِي جَمَاعَتِكَ، وَمَنْ ذَاقَ مَرَارَةَ اليُتْمِ وَالضَّيقِ فِي نَفْسِهِ، فَمَا أَجْدَرَهُ بِأَنْ يَسْتَشْعِرَهَا فِي غَيْرِهِ.
Surah Ad-Duha: Verse 9
9. It is because of this that you should not treat the orphan harshly or belittle him; instead, you should improve his situation gently and instruct him in the nobility of manners so that he may become a useful member in your group. He, who suffered the bitterness and the distress of being an orphan, is more likely to feel it in others.
{ وَأَمَّا ٱلسَّآئِلَ فَلاَ تَنْهَرْ }
{ ٱلسَّآئِلَ }
(10) – وَلاَ تَزْجُرْ سَائِلاً مُسْتَجْدياً يَطْلُبُ مِنْكَ إِحْسَاناً بَلْ تَفَضَّلْ عَلَيْهِ بِشَيءٍ، وَأَحْسِنْ مُخَاطَبَتَهُ.
فَلاَ تَنْهَرْ – فَلاَ تَزْجُرْهُ وَارْفُقْ بِهِ.
(10) – وَلاَ تَزْجُرْ سَائِلاً مُسْتَجْدياً يَطْلُبُ مِنْكَ إِحْسَاناً بَلْ تَفَضَّلْ عَلَيْهِ بِشَيءٍ، وَأَحْسِنْ مُخَاطَبَتَهُ.
فَلاَ تَنْهَرْ – فَلاَ تَزْجُرْهُ وَارْفُقْ بِهِ.
Surah Ad-Duha: Verse 10
10. Do not repulse a beggar who asks you for charity, but give him something and address him gently.
{ وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ }
(11) – وَأَوْسِعْ فِي البَذْلِ عَلَى الفُقَرَاءِ، وَأَفِضْ مِنْ نِعَمِ اللهِ عَلَى طَالِبِيهَا، وَاشْكُرِ اللهَ عَلَى نِعَمِهِ بِإِظْهَارِ نِعَمِهِ عَلَيْكَ، وَبِالحَدِيثِ عَنْهَا.
Surah Ad-Duha: Verse 11
11. Give generously to the poor and expend God’s blessings on those who ask for them. Thank Allah for His favours by letting these blessings show on you, and by talking about them.
