The story in Surah Al-Ma'idah provides a powerful lesson on the nature of piety and the danger of jealousy. When both offered a sacrifice to Allah: only the one offered with sincere devotion was accepted. This rejection fueled a resentment that resulted in the first murder. It teaches believers that Allah looks at the righteousness of the heart rather than just the outward act.
تُعد قصة ابني آدم في سورة المائدة درساً بليغاً في الفرق بين التقوى والحسد. فعندما قدم كل منهما قرباناً لله: تقبل الله من أحدهما ولم يتقبل من الآخر. هذا الموقف فجر صراعاً انتهى بأول جريمة قتل في التاريخ: ليرسخ القرآن حقيقة كبرى وهي أن الميزان عند الله هو تقوى القلوب وليس مجرد المظاهر والأعمال البدنية.

(And recite to them the story of Adam's two sons: in truth: when they both offered a sacrifice [to Allah]: and it was accepted from one of them but was not accepted from the other. Said [the latter]: "I will surely kill you." Said [the former]: "Indeed: Allah only accepts from the righteous [who fear Him].")
(وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ ابْنَيْ آدَمَ بِالْحَقِّ إِذْ قَرَّبَا قُرْبَانًا فَتُقُبِّلَ مِنْ أَحَدِهِمَا وَلَمْ يُتَقَبَّلْ مِنَ الْآخَرِ قَالَ لَأَقْتُلَنَّكَ ۖ قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَتَقَبَّلُ اللَّهُ مِنَ الْمُتَّقِينَ)
