First: when the people said to their prophet Saleh, peace be upon him, if you were truly the Messenger of Allah, get us a she-camel that comes out of this rock in this mountain.
Secondly, some commentators stated that Salih, peace be upon him, prayed two rak’ahs and prayed, so the rock they had appointed cracked open, and a large she-camel came out, so powerful and beautiful..
Thirdly: their Prophet told them: “this is Allah’s she-camel as a sign to you. So leave her to graze ˹freely˺ on Allah’s land and do not harm her, or else you will be overcome by a painful punishment.”
Fourthly: Prophet Saleh agreed with his people that the she-camel had a day to drink from the well, and the people would drink on another day: so they would not drink on her day nor would she drink on their day. According to the interpreters, another miracle was that the she-camel stood in front of every house to allow people to milk her.
Fifth: The she-camel was sent to them as a test to see whether they believe or disbelieve.
It was a miracle for those people because they excelled at carving mountains, therefore the miracle was from what they excelled at.
They replied, “You are simply bewitched! You are only a human being like us, so bring forth a sign if what you say is true.” Ṣâliḥ said, “Here is a camel. She will have her turn to drink as you have yours, each on an appointed day. And do not ever touch her with harm, or you will be overtaken by the torment of a tremendous day.”) Ashu’ara 26: 153- 155
(And tell them that the ˹drinking˺ water must be divided between them ˹and her˺, each taking a turn to drink ˹every other day˺.”) Al-Qamar 54: 28
