What Is the Reward for Ihsan?
ما هو جزاء الإحسان؟
The reward that Allah gives those who do good, is that Allah is good to them: (Is there any reward for goodness except goodness?) [Ar-Rahman 55:60]
Allah Loves those who do good: ( And do good, for Allah certainly loves the good-doers.) [Al-Baqara 2:195]
An excellent reward in this lifetime and the Hereafter: ( So Allah gave them the reward of this world and the excellent reward of the Hereafter. For Allah loves the good-doers.) [Al-Imran 3:148]
The reward for those who do good is Paradise and the safety from Allah’s Wrath: (Those who do good will have the finest reward and ˹even˺ more. Neither gloom nor disgrace will cover their faces. It is they who will be the residents of Paradise. They will be there forever.) [Yunus 10:26]
إحسان الله للمحسنين جزاء إحسانهم، قال تعالى: (هَلْ جَزَاءُ الْإِحْسَانِ إِلَّا الْإِحْسَانُ) [الرحمن 55: 60]
محبة الله للمحسنين، وقال تعالى: (وَأَحْسِنُوا ۛ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ) [البقرة 2: 195]

جزاء المحسنين الجنة والأمان من عذاب الله، قال الله تعالى: (لِّلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا الْحُسْنَىٰ وَزِيَادَةٌ ۖ وَلَا يَرْهَقُ وُجُوهَهُمْ قَتَرٌ وَلَا ذِلَّةٌ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ) [يونس 10: 26]
1. Is There Any Reward for Goodness Except Goodness? | هل جزاء الإحسان إلا الإحسان
Ibn Kathir explains 55:60: there is nothing for the one who did good deeds in this world except that good is done to him in the Hereafter, as Allah says: Those who do good will have the finest reward and even more (10:26). On 10:26 he adds that whoever did good in this world with faith and righteous deeds, Allah gives him the finest reward in the Home of the Hereafter.
هَلْ جَزَاءُ الْإِحْسَانِ إِلَّا الْإِحْسَانُ (سورة الرحمن: 60)
قال تعالى: (هل جزاء الإحسان إلا الإحسان) (الرحمن 55: 60)، قال ابن كثير: أي: ما لمن أحسن في الدنيا العمل إلا الإحسان إليه في الدار الآخرة، كما قال تعالى: (للذين أحسنوا الحسنى وزيادة) (يونس 10: 26)، وقال في آية يونس: يخبر تعالى أن لمن أحسن العمل في الدنيا بالإيمان والعمل الصالح أبدله الحسنى في الدار الآخرة.
2. The Finest Reward, and More: Seeing Allah | للذين أحسنوا الحسنى وزيادة
Ibn Kathir explains that the more in 10:26 is the multiplying of rewards, a good deed ten times over up to seven hundred times and beyond, together with the palaces, the companions and Allah’s pleasure in Paradise, and the best of all of it is looking at His Noble Face. Suhayb reported that the Prophet said: When the people of Paradise enter Paradise, Allah will say: Do you want anything more that I should give you? They will say: Have You not brightened our faces, admitted us into Paradise and saved us from the Fire? Then the veil will be lifted, and they will not have been given anything dearer to them than looking at their Lord; and in another narration he then recited this verse (Sahih Muslim 181).
لِّلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا الْحُسْنَىٰ وَزِيَادَةٌ (سورة يونس: 26)
قال ابن كثير في قوله تعالى: (للذين أحسنوا الحسنى وزيادة) (يونس 10: 26): الزيادة هي تضعيف ثواب الأعمال بالحسنة عشر أمثالها إلى سبعمائة ضعف، وزيادة على ذلك، ويشمل ما يعطيهم الله في الجنان من القصور والحور والرضا عنهم، وأفضل من ذلك النظر إلى وجهه الكريم، وعن صهيب رضي الله عنه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: "إذا دخل أهل الجنة الجنة قال: يقول الله تبارك وتعالى: تريدون شيئا أزيدكم؟ فيقولون: ألم تبيض وجوهنا؟ ألم تدخلنا الجنة وتنجنا من النار؟ قال: فيكشف الحجاب، فما أعطوا شيئا أحب إليهم من النظر إلى ربهم عز وجل" (صحيح مسلم 181).
3. Loved by Allah, Rewarded in Both Worlds | فآتاهم الله ثواب الدنيا وحسن ثواب الآخرة
Allah commands: And do good, for Allah certainly loves the good-doers (2:195), and of the believers who stood firm with the prophets He says: So Allah gave them the reward of this world and the excellent reward of the Hereafter. For Allah loves the good-doers (3:148). Ibn Kathir explains the reward of this world as victory, triumph and the good end, and the excellent reward of the Hereafter as joined to it, so they are given both. فَآتَاهُمُ اللَّهُ ثَوَابَ الدُّنْيَا وَحُسْنَ ثَوَابِ الْآخِرَةِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ (سورة آل عمران: 148)
قال تعالى: (وأحسنوا إن الله يحب المحسنين) (البقرة 2: 195)، وقال سبحانه: (فآتاهم الله ثواب الدنيا وحسن ثواب الآخرة والله يحب المحسنين) (آل عمران 3: 148)، قال ابن كثير: أي: النصر والظفر والعاقبة، (وحسن ثواب الآخرة) أي: جمع لهم ذلك مع هذا.
4. Neither Gloom Nor Disgrace on Their Faces | ولا يرهق وجوههم قتر ولا ذلة
The verse of Yunus continues: Neither gloom nor disgrace will cover their faces. It is they who will be the residents of Paradise. They will be there forever (10:26). Ibn Kathir explains: no darkness or blackness will cover their faces on the plains of the Gathering, as it covers the faces of the wicked disbelievers, and no humiliation will touch them inwardly or outwardly; rather they are as Allah says: So Allah will deliver them from the horror of that Day, and grant them radiance and joy (76:11), radiance on their faces and joy in their hearts.
وَلَا يَرْهَقُ وُجُوهَهُمْ قَتَرٌ وَلَا ذِلَّةٌ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ (سورة يونس: 26)
قال تعالى: (ولا يرهق وجوههم قتر ولا ذلة أولئك أصحاب الجنة هم فيها خالدون) (يونس 10: 26)، قال ابن كثير: (ولا يرهق وجوههم قتر) أي: قتام وسواد في عرصات المحشر، كما يعتري وجوه الكفرة الفجرة من القترة والغبرة، (ولا ذلة) أي: هوان وصغار، أي: لا يحصل لهم إهانة في الباطن ولا في الظاهر، بل هم كما قال تعالى في حقهم: (فوقاهم الله شر ذلك اليوم ولقاهم نضرة وسرورا) (الإنسان 76: 11)، أي: نضرة في وجوههم وسرورا في قلوبهم.
