Ibn Kathir explains that those who oppose Allah and His Messenger are those who stand on one side while the Law stands on the other, turning away from the truth and resisting it; among the most debased means among the wretched who are cast away from what is right, debased in this world and the Hereafter. قال ابن كثير: "يقول تعالى مخبرا عن الكفار المعاندين المحادين لله ورسوله، يعني: الذين هم في حد والشرع في حد، أي: مجانبون للحق مشاقون له"، وقال في قوله (أولئك في الأذلين): "أي: في الأشقياء المبعدين المطرودين عن الصواب، الأذلين في الدنيا والآخرة". وهذه هي العقوبة المزدوجة التي ذكرها الجواب.

Allah told His Prophet: Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers (Al-Hijr 15:95). 3. What They Mocked Overtook Them | فحاق بهم ما كانوا به يستهزئون
Allah says: Messengers before you were mocked, but those who ridiculed them were overtaken by what they used to mock (Al-An'am 6:10), and of the one who takes Allah's verses in mockery: for them is a humiliating punishment (Al-Jathiyah 45:9).
وَلَقَدِ اسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِالَّذِينَ سَخِرُوا مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ (سورة الأنعام: 10)
