Surah Al-Mujadilah is the 58th chapter of the Quran, containing 22 verses. Revealed in Madinah, it takes its name from the woman who pleaded her case before Allah concerning her husband, and whose complaint Allah heard. The surah addresses matters of private conversation and etiquette in gatherings, and describes the believers as those whose loyalty is to Allah and His Messenger rather than to those who oppose them. Below you can read the full Surah Al-Mujadilah in Arabic with a clear English translation and a verse-by-verse tafsir (explanation of the meaning) from Aysar al-Tafaseer, with the option to jump to any specific verse.

Tafsir of the Verses

{قَدْ سَمِعَ ٱللَّهُ قَوْلَ ٱلَّتِي تُجَادِلُكَ فِي زَوْجِهَا وَتَشْتَكِيۤ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَٱللَّهُ يَسْمَعُ تَحَاوُرَكُمآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ بَصِيرٌ}
{تُجَادِلُكَ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 1
1. This verse was revealed in connection with Khawla bint Tha’laba, wife of Aus ibn al-Samit. Aus had aged and had become short-tempered. One day he argued with his wife and was angered, so he told her: “You are to me like the back of my mother.” When a man said this in the pre-Islamic period, his wife became unlawful to him thereafter. Then Aus wanted to take his wife back, but she refused saying: “By Allah! Do not touch me until Allah and His prophet have given their rule.” She thus went to the Prophet to tell her story and urge her complaint saying that if she left him and kept her children, they would starve because she had no means to support them, and if she left the children to her husband to care for them, they would be lost. She lifted her head to the sky and complained to Allah. Allah Almighty then revealed these verses. Allah Almighty says that He had heard the plea of the woman who came to ask for the judgement of the Messenger concerning her husband and to complain to her Lord, for He hears all that His servants say. His hearing encompasses all that can be heard and His Sight encompasses all that can be seen.
{ٱلَّذِينَ يُظَاهِرُونَ مِنكُمْ مِّن نِّسَآئِهِمْ مَّا هُنَّ أُمَّهَاتِهِمْ إِنْ أُمَّهَاتُهُمْ إِلاَّ ٱللاَّئِي وَلَدْنَهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَقُولُونَ مُنكَراً مِّنَ ٱلْقَوْلِ وَزُوراً وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَعَفُوٌّ غَفُورٌ}
{يُظَاهِرُونَ} {نِّسَآئِهِمْ} {أُمَّهَاتِهِمْ} {ٱللاَّئِي}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 2
2. He who divorces his wife by telling her, “You are to me as the back of my mother,” thus making her forbidden to himself just as a mother is forbidden to her son in marriage, are wrong in what they do. For his wife is not his mother, his mother is she who gave birth to him. So a man should not liken his mother to any other woman. Those who repudiate their wives by telling them that they are like the backs of their mothers are merely saying iniquitous words, and lies and falsehood which are not accepted by Islamic law. The relationship between a woman and her husband is special and it is unlike the relationship between mother and son. It is based on respect and high regard. Allah is All-Pardoning and forgives the faults of those who repent of what they say and return to their Lord in penitence.
{وَٱلَّذِينَ يُظَاهِرُونَ مِن نِّسَآئِهِمْ ثُمَّ يَعُودُونَ لِمَا قَالُواْ فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَتَمَآسَّا ذَلِكُمْ تُوعَظُونَ بِهِ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ}
{يُظَاهِرُونَ} {نِّسَآئِهِمْ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 3
3. Those who say this outrageous statement and then go back on their words and wish to copulate with their wives, it is ordained that they free a slave if they have the means and the ability of doing so before they touch their wives. Allah Almighty set this penance to exhort those who are angered impulsively and to prevent them from comparing their wives to the backs of their mothers. Allah Almighty is well aquatinted with the deeds of His servants and nothing is hidden from Him.
{فَمَن لَّمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَتَمَآسَّا فَمَن لَّمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَإِطْعَامُ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِيناً ذَلِكَ لِتُؤْمِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَتِلْكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّهِ وَلِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ}
{لِلْكَافِرِينَ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 4
4. But if one does not find a slave to free, or has no means to purchase a slave’s freedom, he should fast for two consecutive months before he touches his wife. If he has to break his fast for a day during these two months, even for a valid reason or for travel, he should start his fast again because the sequence was interrupted. But for one who cannot fast due to old age or illness, he should feed sixty indigents half a measure each of wheat or a measure each of barley before he and his wife touch each other. Allah Almighty imposed this penance on the believers so that they may profess His Oneness and believe in His prophet, and that they may observe the bounds set by Allah and not transgress. Those who reject Allah’s laws and His limits have a grievous punishment.
{إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحَآدُّونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ كُبِتُواْ كَمَا كُبِتَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَآ آيَاتٍ بَيِّنَاتٍ وَلِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ}
{آيَاتٍ} {بَيِّنَاتٍ} {لِلْكَافِرِينَ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 5
5. Those who oppose Allah and choose for themselves bounds other than those that Allah and His Messenger legislated, will be humiliated, disgraced, and defeated on earth as were those before them among previous nations. How could they transgress the limits set by Allah Almighty when He sent down clear Signs indicating His laws and limits. They have no excuse for violating them and deviating from them. Those who repudiate those signs will have a humiliating punishment on Judgement day.
{يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ جَمِيعاً فَيُنَبِّئُهُمْ بِمَا عَمِلُوۤاْ أَحْصَاهُ ٱللَّهُ وَنَسُوهُ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ}
{أَحْصَاهُ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 6
6. On Judgement Day Allah will resurrect all creatures and assemble them on an equal footing. He will then tell them of their deeds, the good and evil, for Allah Almighty has fixed them in their records of deeds while they would have forgotten them. But Allah Almighty is a witness to all that they did; nothing escapes His knowledge nor does He forget anything.
{أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلأَرْضِ مَا يَكُونُ مِن نَّجْوَىٰ ثَلاَثَةٍ إِلاَّ هُوَ رَابِعُهُمْ وَلاَ خَمْسَةٍ إِلاَّ هُوَ سَادِسُهُمْ وَلاَ أَدْنَىٰ مِن ذَلِكَ وَلاَ أَكْثَرَ إِلاَّ هُوَ مَعَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كَانُواْ ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُواْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ}
{ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ} {ثَلاَثَةٍ} {ٱلْقِيَامَةِ} {أَيْنَ مَا}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 7
7. How would He not know what those people did when He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth and He is their Master and knows what they contain? There is not a secret consultation between three people but He is among them. He hears what they say and knows what they plot. Nor do five gather but Allah Almighty is the sixth, nor are there more than those or fewer, consulting secretly but He is with them and hears, sees and records everything. On Judgement Day He will tell them their secrets and their consultations. Allah Almighty has full knowledge of everything; nothing that His servants do is hidden from him.
{أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ نُهُواْ عَنِ ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ ثُمَّ يَعُودُونَ لِمَا نُهُواْ عَنْهُ وَيَتَنَاجَوْنَ بِٱلإِثْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَانِ وَمَعْصِيَتِ ٱلرَّسُولِ وَإِذَا جَآءُوكَ حَيَّوْكَ بِمَا لَمْ يُحَيِّكَ بِهِ ٱللَّهُ وَيَقُولُونَ فِيۤ أَنفُسِهِمْ لَوْلاَ يُعَذِّبُنَا ٱللَّهُ بِمَا نَقُولُ حَسْبُهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ يَصْلَوْنَهَا فَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ}
{وَيَتَنَاجَوْنَ} {ٱلْعُدْوَانِ} {مَعْصِيَتِ} {جَآءُوكَ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 8
8. There was a reconciliation between the Prophet and the Jews in Medina. But every time a Muslim went by, the Jews would engage in secret conversations so that the Muslim would think there was a conspiracy to kill or harm him; seeing this, the believer would fear them and change his route. The Prophet forbade their secret conversations, but they did not stop but reverted to them. Thus Allah Almighty revealed in this verse to His Messenger that the secret conversations which they held were sinful in themselves and would result in harm to them for they were committing hostile acts against the believers and disobeying the Prophet. A number of Jews came to the Prophet and said: “Assam upon you, Abu Kassem,” (meaning death upon you instead of the Islamic salutation of salam meaning “peace upon you”). The Prophet replied: “And on you.” These Jews meant to harm the Prophet by their salutation and invoke curses against him but Allah Almighty disclosed their intentions and exposed them. He told the Prophet that they did this while saying among themselves that if Mohammad were really a prophet, Allah would have punished them on earth for what they said, because Allah knows what they conceal and what they disclose. Allah Almighty answered them saying: “Hell is sufficient for their punishment and their torture, and evil is their destiny on Judgement Day.”
{يٰأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ آمَنُوۤاْ إِذَا تَنَاجَيْتُمْ فَلاَ تَتَنَاجَوْاْ بِٱلإِثْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَانِ وَمَعْصِيَتِ ٱلرَّسُولِ وَتَنَاجَوْاْ بِٱلْبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقْوَىٰ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِيۤ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ}
{آمَنُوۤاْ} {تَنَاجَيْتُمْ} {تَتَنَاجَوْاْ} {ٱلْعُدْوَانِ} {مَعْصِيَتِ} {تَنَاجَوْاْ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 9
9. Allah Almighty educates His believing servants so that they would be different from the unbelievers and hypocrites. He says: “If you hold secret counsel in private, do not do as the unbelievers among the people of the Book and the hypocrites who follow perversity, but hold counsels for matters of good and fear Allah in all you do and know that you will be return to Him on Judgement Day and He will judge you for your deeds.”
{إِنَّمَا ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَانِ لِيَحْزُنَ ٱلَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَلَيْسَ بِضَآرِّهِمْ شَيْئاً إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ}
{ٱلشَّيْطَانِ} {آمَنُواْ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 10
10. Secret counsels held for the purpose of hostility and iniquity are inspired by the devil and made appealing by him. The devil does this so that he may cause grief to the believers by making them believe that this counsel will harm them. However, he cannot harm them at all, except if Allah chooses that he does. Thus the believers should not care about the secret counsels of the unbelievers and hypocrites but should rely on Allah. In a Hadith the Messenger of Allah said: “If you are three united, then two of you should not hold secret counsel without permission from the third, as this could sadden him.” (Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.)
{يٰأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمْ تَفَسَّحُواْ فِي ٱلْمَجَالِسِ فَٱفْسَحُواْ يَفْسَحِ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَإِذَا قِيلَ ٱنشُزُواْ فَانشُزُواْ يَرْفَعِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ مِنكُمْ وَٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلْعِلْمَ دَرَجَاتٍ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ}
{يٰأَيُّهَا} {آمَنُواْ} {ٱلْمَجَالِسِ} {دَرَجَاتٍ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 11
11. It is said that this verse was revealed in connection with the assemblies held for praising Allah. When a newcomer approached the assembly, those who were seated would close in on the Messenger of Allah. Thus, Allah ordered them to make room for one another. It was said that this verse was revealed on a Friday when the Messenger of Allah was in Al-Suffa, and the place was overcrowded. He was in the habit of honouring the people of the battle of Badr, both and emigrants and allies and some of the people of Badr came to the assembly when others were already seated. They stood before the Messenger of Allah, and said, “Peace and Allah’s mercy be upon you, O Prophet,” and he saluted them back; then they saluted the rest of the company. However, no one made room for them, and this annoyed the Prophet. He called out to the emigrants and the allies who sat around him — and who had not participated in the battle of Badr — by name to get up and give their places to the newcomers. He did this until all the newcomers had been seated. Those who were asked to leave their seats felt offended and the Messenger saw the signs of discontentment on their faces; as for the hypocrites, they spread false rumours. The Messenger then said: “Allah blesses a man who makes room for his brothers.” Thus after this they all would get up in haste to make room for their brothers. Allah Almighty indicates to the believers that when they are told to make room in the assemblies of Allah’s Messenger, or in battle assemblies, then they should spread out and make room and Allah would then provide ample room for them in Paradise. And if they are asked to leave the assembly of Allah’s Messenger, then they should respond and leave because the Prophet preferred to be alone when managing the affairs of the believers. (It is not permitted to a newcomer to ask for the place of someone who is already seated. In a Hadith the Prophet said: “A man should not get another up to sit in his place but the assembly should make room for him by spreading out.” (Reported by Buhkari and Muslim.))
When the believers make room for one another in answer to the command of Allah and His Messenger, Allah will raise them, and those who have been granted knowledge in particular, to higher degrees of compensation; for Allah is well-acquainted with what His servants do. Nothing is concealed from Him.
{يٰأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ إِذَا نَاجَيْتُمُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَقَدِّمُواْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ نَجْوَاكُمْ صَدَقَةً ذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَأَطْهَرُ فَإِن لَّمْ تَجِدُواْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ}
{يٰأَيُّهَا} {آمَنُواْ} {نَاجَيْتُمُ} {نَجْوَاكُمْ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 12
12. Allah Almighty commands the believers who want to consult the Messenger (peace be upon him) in private to precede the meeting with almsgiving to purify and sanctify them, and to raise them to this higher rank (in order to meet the Prophet). In giving to charity before the private consultation, there is a great reward and a purification for their souls. However, if those who want a private consultation with the messenger do not own anything which they could offer as charity, then it is not an offense if he does not give in charity, and Allah is All-Forgiving, All-Merciful.
This verse was revealed so that people would not abuse the Prophet’s kindness and ask him so many questions that it became unbearable. Allah Almighty wanted to relieve his burden.
{ءَأَشْفَقْتُمْ أَن تُقَدِّمُواْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ نَجْوَاكُمْ صَدَقَاتٍ فَإِذْ لَمْ تَفْعَلُواْ وَتَابَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلاَةَ وَآتُواْ ٱلزَّكَاةَ وَأَطِيعُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ}
{أَأَشْفَقْتُمْ} {نَجْوَاكُمْ} {صَدَقَاتٍ} {ٱلصَّلاَةَ} {آتُواْ ٱلزَّكَاةَ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 13
13. Were you too avaricious to spend in the cause of Allah, out of fear of poverty? Has Satan whispered to you that it is but a waste of money? But since you do not expend and find difficulty in doing so, Almighty Allah has relieved you of giving to charity if you want to have private consultations with the prophet. Instead, you should continue to perform the daily prayers in a perfect manner, and pay alms tax on your money and obey Allah and His messenger in their commands, and refrain from what He forbade. Allah is well-acquainted with what His servants do and He will judge them accordingly.
{أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ تَوَلَّوْاْ قَوْماً غَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مَّا هُم مِّنكُمْ وَلاَ مِنْهُمْ وَيَحْلِفُونَ عَلَى ٱلْكَذِبِ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 14
14. Allah Almighty disapproves of the hypocrites who turn in friendship to the Jews and ask for their advice and reveal to them the secrets of the Muslims. He tells His noble Messenger: “Do you not see how these hypocrites befriended the Jews against whom Allah is wrathful because of their disbelief, and because they concealed the message of Mohammad which they know to be true, as they know their own sons?” It is a certainly a surprising situation: They give advice to the Jews and inform them of all the affairs of the Muslims to gain their affection and friendship. But when they are with the believers, they pretend to be faithful to Islam and loyal to the Muslims. Allah Almighty says that those hypocrites are not really believers because had they been believers, their deeds would have reflected this and they would not have taken the Jews, who are enemies of Allah, as friends. On the other hand, they are not of the Jews, for they do not believe that their religion is the true one. But they want to retain their affection in case they might need them one day should time be against the Muslims. These hypocrites affirm their belief and sincerity before the Messenger and the believers. But Allah is witness that they lie in what they say, and they themselves do not believe that they speak the truth.
{أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمْ عَذَاباً شَدِيداً إِنَّهُمْ سَآءَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ}
Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 15
15. Allah Almighty has prepared for them a severe punishment on Judgement Day; this is their penalty for taking the Prophet and the believers as foes and for deceiving them, and for taking the unbelievers as friends and advising them. Evil are their deeds!
{ٱتَّخَذْوۤاْ أَيْمَانَهُمْ جُنَّةً فَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ}
{أَيْمَانَهُمْ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 16
16. They displayed faith and concealed their disbelief. They hid behind false faith and thus he who did not know their true state would think that they were truthful. They were thus able to turn many people away from embracing Islam. They will have a humiliating punishment as a payment for their evil deeds and for swearing to lies and fraud in the name of Allah Almighty.

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 17
17. Nothing will benefit those hypocrites. That which they thought was good for them, notably their children and wealth, will not drive away Allah’s punishment or wrath. No riches will ransom them, nor will their children help them, and they will be the companions of the Fire where they will dwell eternally.
{يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ جَمِيعاً فَيَحْلِفُونَ لَهُ كَمَا يَحْلِفُونَ لَكُمْ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمْ عَلَىٰ شَيْءٍ أَلاَ إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ ٱلْكَاذِبُونَ}
{ٱلْكَاذِبُونَ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 18
18. Tell them O Mohammad, of their condition on Judgement Day when Allah resurrects them all from their graves leaving none. They will swear to him that they were on the straight path and that they did not worship partners with Him. They will say, “Our Lord! We were not polytheists,” (See chapter 6- Al-Ana’am (Cattle), 23), just as they swear to you today on earth that they are believers. They think that their oath before Allah will benefit them just as it did with the people on earth when they swore to be believers. Allah Almighty answers those hypocrites denying their behaviour and says: “They are liars in what they swear to, believing that their false belief will serve them before Allah and will deliver them from torture.”
{ٱسْتَحْوَذَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلشَّيْطَانُ فَأَنسَاهُمْ ذِكْرَ ٱللَّهِ أُوْلَـٰئِكَ حِزْبُ الشَّيْطَانِ أَلاَ إِنَّ حِزْبَ الشَّيْطَانِ هُمُ الخَاسِرُونَ}
{ٱلشَّيْطَانُ} {فَأَنسَاهُمْ} {أُوْلَـٰئِكَ} {الشَّيْطَانِ} {الخَاسِرُونَ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 19
19. Through the passions which Satan embellished for the hypocrites, he has captivated their hearts and dominated them with his whisperings. He made them forget to ever mention Allah’s name, follow His commands, and avoid what He forbade. Those are the army of Satan and his party, and it is the party of Satan who are losers, for behaving in this way, they have let their souls miss the blessings and led themselves to the torture of Hell.
{إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُحَآدُّونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ أُوْلَـٰئِكَ فِي ٱلأَذَلِّينَ}
{أُوْلَـٰئِكَ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 20
20. Those who violate Allah’s commands and show animosity towards Allah and His Messenger, and refuse to do what Allah has commanded, will all be among those who are humiliated. For, victory belongs to Allah, His Messenger and the believers. They will face humiliation on earth by being killed, imprisoned or expelled and in the Hereafter they will face humiliation and torture in the fire of Hell.
{كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لأَغْلِبَنَّ أَنَاْ وَرُسُلِيۤ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 21
21. Allah Almighty has ordained and decreed in the Mother of the Book that victory and triumph will be for Him, for His messengers and His followers in both life here below and the Hereafter. Allah’s decree will inevitably prevail, and no one can prevent it. Allah is Invincible and All-Powerful.
{لاَّ تَجِدُ قَوْماً يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلآخِرِ يُوَآدُّونَ مَنْ حَآدَّ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَوْ كَانُوۤاْ آبَآءَهُمْ أَوْ أَبْنَآءَهُمْ أَوْ إِخْوَانَهُمْ أَوْ عَشِيرَتَهُمْ أُوْلَـٰئِكَ كَتَبَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلإِيمَانَ وَأَيَّدَهُمْ بِرُوحٍ مِّنْهُ وَيُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا رَضِيَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُواْ عَنْهُ أُوْلَـٰئِكَ حِزْبُ ٱللَّهِ أَلاَ إِنَّ حِزْبَ ٱللَّهِ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ}
{ٱلآخِرِ} {آبَآءَهُمْ} {إِخْوَانَهُمْ} {أُوْلَـٰئِكَ} {ٱلإِيمَانَ} {جَنَّاتٍ} {ٱلأَنْهَارُ} {خَالِدِينَ}

Surah Al-Mujadilah: Verse 22
22. You will not find any person who unites between faith in Allah and the belief in Judgement Day and the love Allah’s enemies and those of His messengers. True believers do not support unbelievers even if the latter are of the same family, or relatives, or their children who are their nearest and dearest. The believers who do not befriend unbelievers even if they were from their family or tribe are those whom Allah has strengthened faith firm in their hearts and embellished guidance for them, and aided them with assurance and truth (“supported them by His spirit”). He will admit them on Judgement Day to the gardens beneath which rivers run, where they will stay eternally because Allah is pleased with them and has admitted them to His mercy and His gardens. They will be happy with the grace that Allah bestows upon them, and with what He will compensate them for their dissatisfaction with their relatives and children. Those are the allies of Allah, His soldiers and His party. They are people of dignity, happiness and triumph in life on earth and the Hereafter.
