1. Three in a Row: Yunus, Hud and Yusuf | ثلاث سور متتالية
Three of the six follow one another in the Mushaf: Yunus, Hud and Yusuf (10, 11, 12). Near the end of Surah Hud, Allah says: all that We relate to you of the news of the messengers is to make your heart firm, and in this the truth has come to you (11:120). Ibn Kathir explains that the stories of the earlier messengers, what they endured and how Allah helped them, steady the Prophet's heart, and that in this means in this surah, as Ibn Abbas and Mujahid said.
وَكُلًّا نَّقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنبَاءِ الرُّسُلِ مَا نُثَبِّتُ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ (سورة هود: 120)
ثلاث من هذه السور متتالية في المصحف: يونس وهود ويوسف (10، 11، 12). وقال تعالى في آخر سورة هود: (وكلا نقص عليك من أنباء الرسل ما نثبت به فؤادك وجاءك في هذه الحق) (هود 11: 120)، قال ابن كثير: كل هذا مما نثبت به فؤادك، أي قلبك، ليكون لك بمن مضى من إخوانك المرسلين أسوة، و(في هذه) أي في هذه السورة، قاله ابن عباس ومجاهد.
2. The People of Yunus | قوم يونس
Surah Yunus records that no town believed and benefited from its belief except the people of Yunus: when they believed, Allah removed from them the punishment of disgrace in this life (10:98). Ibn Kathir links this with 37:148: they all believed, so Allah let them enjoy life until their appointed time.
إِلَّا قَوْمَ يُونُسَ لَمَّا آمَنُوا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمْ عَذَابَ الْخِزْيِ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا (سورة يونس: 98)
ذكرت سورة يونس أنه لم تؤمن قرية فينفعها إيمانها إلا قوم يونس: (إلا قوم يونس لما آمنوا كشفنا عنهم عذاب الخزي في الحياة الدنيا) (يونس 10: 98). وربطها ابن كثير بقوله تعالى: (فآمنوا فمتعناهم إلى حين) (الصافات 37: 148)، أي آمنوا جميعا فمتعهم الله إلى وقت آجالهم.
3. Surah Muhammad | سورة محمد
The name Muhammad occurs four times in the Quran: 3:144, 33:40, 47:2 and 48:29. In the surah named after him Allah says: those who believe, do righteous deeds and believe in what has been sent down to Muhammad, and it is the truth from their Lord (47:2). Ibn Kathir notes that this shows belief in what was sent down to him is a condition of faith after his mission.
وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَآمَنُوا بِمَا نُزِّلَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَهُوَ الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ (سورة محمد: 2)
ورد اسم محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم في القرآن أربع مرات: (آل عمران 3: 144)، و(الأحزاب 33: 40)، و(محمد 47: 2)، و(الفتح 48: 29). وقال تعالى في السورة المسماة باسمه: (والذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات وآمنوا بما نزل على محمد وهو الحق من ربهم) (محمد 47: 2)، قال ابن كثير: وهو دليل على أنه شرط في صحة الإيمان بعد بعثته.
