بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Surah Al-Qadr is the 97th chapter of the Quran, containing 5 verses. Revealed in Makkah, it describes the revealing of the Quran on the Night of Power, Laylat al-Qadr, a night better than a thousand months, on which the angels and the Spirit, Gabriel, descend by their Lord’s permission with every decree. The surah closes describing that night as one of peace, lasting until the break of dawn. Tafsir of the Verses
{ إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ ٱلْقَدْرِ }
{ أَنزَلْنَاهُ }
(1) – يَقُولُ اللهُ تَعَالَى إِنَّهُ أَنْزَلَ القُرْآنَ فِي لَيْلَةِ القَدْرِ. وَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ إِنَّ اللهَ أَنْزَلَ فِي لَيْلَةِ القَدْرِ القُرْآنَ جُمْلَةً مِنَ اللَّوْحِ المَحْفُوظِ إِلَى بَيْتِ العِزَّةِ فِي السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا، ثُمَّ مُفَصَّلاً بِحَسَبِ الوَقَائِعِ فِي ثَلاَثٍ وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم.
(وَقَالَ مُفَسِّرُونَ آخَرُونَ: إِنَّ اللهَ بَدَأَ تَنْزِيلَ القُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةِ القَدْرِ، ثُمَّ أَنْْزَلَهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فِي ثَلاَثٍ وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً، بِحَسَبِ الحَوَادِثِ التِي كَانَتْ تَدْعُو إِلَى نُزُولِ شَيءٍ مِنْهُ، تَثْبِيتاً لِمَا أَشْكَلَ مِنَ الفَتْوَى فِيهَا، أَوْ عِبْرَةً بِمَا يَقُصُّ مِنْ قَصَصٍ وَزَوَاجِرَ).
لَيْلَةِ القَدْرِ – لَيْلَةِ الشَّرَفِ العَظِيمَةِ.
(1) – يَقُولُ اللهُ تَعَالَى إِنَّهُ أَنْزَلَ القُرْآنَ فِي لَيْلَةِ القَدْرِ. وَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ إِنَّ اللهَ أَنْزَلَ فِي لَيْلَةِ القَدْرِ القُرْآنَ جُمْلَةً مِنَ اللَّوْحِ المَحْفُوظِ إِلَى بَيْتِ العِزَّةِ فِي السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا، ثُمَّ مُفَصَّلاً بِحَسَبِ الوَقَائِعِ فِي ثَلاَثٍ وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم.
(وَقَالَ مُفَسِّرُونَ آخَرُونَ: إِنَّ اللهَ بَدَأَ تَنْزِيلَ القُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةِ القَدْرِ، ثُمَّ أَنْْزَلَهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فِي ثَلاَثٍ وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً، بِحَسَبِ الحَوَادِثِ التِي كَانَتْ تَدْعُو إِلَى نُزُولِ شَيءٍ مِنْهُ، تَثْبِيتاً لِمَا أَشْكَلَ مِنَ الفَتْوَى فِيهَا، أَوْ عِبْرَةً بِمَا يَقُصُّ مِنْ قَصَصٍ وَزَوَاجِرَ).
لَيْلَةِ القَدْرِ – لَيْلَةِ الشَّرَفِ العَظِيمَةِ.
Surah Al-Qadr: Verse 1
1. Allah Almighty says that He revealed the Quran on the Night of Power. Ibn Abbas says that Allah revealed the whole of the Quran on the Night of Power from the Preserved Tablets to the House of Honour in the lower heaven, then revealed it gradually over a period of twenty-three years, to the Messenger of Allah according to events. (Other commentators said: Allah began the revelation of the Quran on the Night of Power then He then sent it down gradually over a period of twenty-three years depending on the incident which required the revelation of parts of it, either to confirm a problematic legal opinion or to teach a lesson through one of its stories or its admonitions.)
{ وَمَآ أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ ٱلْقَدْرِ }
{ أَدْرَاكَ }
(2) – وَمَا الذِي تَعْلَمُهُ أَنْتَ عَنْ فَضْلِهَا، وَعُلُوِّ قَدْرِهَا، فَذَلِكَ لاَ يَعْلَمُهُ إِلاّ اللهُ وَحْدَهُ.
(2) – وَمَا الذِي تَعْلَمُهُ أَنْتَ عَنْ فَضْلِهَا، وَعُلُوِّ قَدْرِهَا، فَذَلِكَ لاَ يَعْلَمُهُ إِلاّ اللهُ وَحْدَهُ.
Surah Al-Qadr: Verse 2
2. What do you know of its benefits and honour? Only Allah knows it.
{ لَيْلَةُ ٱلْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ }
(3) – فَلَيْلَةُ القَدْرِ مُبَارَكَةٌ بَدَأَ فِيهَا بِإِنْزَالِ القُرْآنِ الكَرِيمِ لِيَبْدَأَ عَهْدُ النُّبُوَّةِ وَالنُّورِ وَالهُدَى، وَهِيَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ مِنْ أَشْهُرِ الجَاهِلِيَّةِ، التِي كَانَ النَّاسُ يَتَخَبَّطُونَ فِيهَا فِي ظَلاَمِ الشِّرْكِ وَالوَثَنِيَّةِ.
Surah Al-Qadr: Verse 3
3. The Night of Power is a blessed night when the revelation of the glorious Quran initiated an epoch of prophecy, light and guidance. It is better than one thousand months of the Age of Ignorance (pre-Islamic period) when people used to wander in the darkness of ignorance and paganism.
{ تَنَزَّلُ ٱلْمَلاَئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمْرٍ }
{ ٱلْمَلاَئِكَةُ }
(4) – تَنَزَّلَتِ المَلاَئِكَةُ فِيهَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، وَتَمَثَّلَ لَهُ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ، مُبَلِّغاً لِلْوَحْيِ، وَكَانَ هَذَا التَّجَلِّي بِإِذْنِ اللهِ تَعَالَى.
(وَقِيلُ إِنَّ المَعْنَى هُوَ: أَنَّ المَلاَئِكَةَ يَكْثُرُ تَنَزُّلُهُمْ فِي هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الأَرْضِ لِعِظَمِ بَرَكَتِهَا).
الرُّوحُ – جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ.
مِنْ كُلِّ أَمْرٍ – بِكُلِّ أَمْرٍ مِنَ الخَيْرِ وَالبَرَكَةِ.
(4) – تَنَزَّلَتِ المَلاَئِكَةُ فِيهَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، وَتَمَثَّلَ لَهُ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ، مُبَلِّغاً لِلْوَحْيِ، وَكَانَ هَذَا التَّجَلِّي بِإِذْنِ اللهِ تَعَالَى.
(وَقِيلُ إِنَّ المَعْنَى هُوَ: أَنَّ المَلاَئِكَةَ يَكْثُرُ تَنَزُّلُهُمْ فِي هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الأَرْضِ لِعِظَمِ بَرَكَتِهَا).
الرُّوحُ – جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ.
مِنْ كُلِّ أَمْرٍ – بِكُلِّ أَمْرٍ مِنَ الخَيْرِ وَالبَرَكَةِ.
Surah Al-Qadr: Verse 4
4. The angels descended upon the holy Messenger of Allah, and Gabriel appeared to announce to him the revelation. This was by the command of Allah, the Almighty. (It was said that the meaning is as follows: Many angels descend on that night from the heavens to the earth because it is a blessed night.)
{ سَلاَمٌ هِيَ حَتَّىٰ مَطْلَعِ ٱلْفَجْرِ }
{ سَلاَمٌ }
(5) – وَهِيَ لَيْلَةٌ كُلُّها سَلاَمٌ وَأَمْنٌ وَخَيْرٌ عَلَى أَوْلِيَاءِ اللهِ، وَأَهْلِ طَاعَتِهِ، مِنْ مَبْدَئِهَا إِلَى نِهَايَتِهَا فِي مَطْلَعِ الفَجْرِ.
(5) – وَهِيَ لَيْلَةٌ كُلُّها سَلاَمٌ وَأَمْنٌ وَخَيْرٌ عَلَى أَوْلِيَاءِ اللهِ، وَأَهْلِ طَاعَتِهِ، مِنْ مَبْدَئِهَا إِلَى نِهَايَتِهَا فِي مَطْلَعِ الفَجْرِ.
Surah Al-Qadr: Verse 5
5. This night is a night of peace, security, and good for the followers of Allah, those who obey Him, from its beginning to its end at the break of dawn.
