بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Surah Ad-Dukhan is the 44th chapter of the Quran, containing 59 verses. Revealed in Makkah, it takes its name from the smoke mentioned as a sign of the coming punishment. The surah speaks of the revelation of the Quran on a blessed night, recounts the story of Moses and the drowning of Pharaoh, and describes the fate awaiting both the wrongdoers and the righteous on the Day of Judgement. {حـمۤ}
(حَا. مِيمْ).
(1) – وَتُقْرأُ مُقَطَّعَةً، كُلُّ حَرْفٍ عَلَى حِدَةٍ، اللهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمُرَادِهِ.
(1) – وَتُقْرأُ مُقَطَّعَةً، كُلُّ حَرْفٍ عَلَى حِدَةٍ، اللهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمُرَادِهِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 1
1. Ha. Mim: The letters are read separately. Allah knows best their meaning.
{وَٱلْكِتَابِ ٱلْمُبِينِ}
{ٱلْكِتَابِ}
(2) – يُقْسِمُ اللهُ تَعَالَى، جَلَّتْ قُدْرَتُهُ، بِكِتَابِهِ المَجِيدِ، المُبَيِّنِ للنَّاسِ مَا يُصْلِحُ حَالَهُمْ فِي دُنْيَاهُمْ وَآخِرَتِهِمْ.
(2) – يُقْسِمُ اللهُ تَعَالَى، جَلَّتْ قُدْرَتُهُ، بِكِتَابِهِ المَجِيدِ، المُبَيِّنِ للنَّاسِ مَا يُصْلِحُ حَالَهُمْ فِي دُنْيَاهُمْ وَآخِرَتِهِمْ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 2
2. Allah Almighty swears by His holy Book that clarifies to people what is useful for them in this life and in the Hereafter.
{إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَارَكَةٍ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ}
{أَنزَلْنَاهُ} {مُّبَارَكَةٍ}
(3) – أَقْسَمَ اللهُ تَعَالَى بِالقُرْآنِ المُبِينِ عَلَى أَنَّهُ بَدَأ إِنْزَالَ القُرْآنِ عَلَى عَبْدِهِ وَرَسُولِهِ مُحَمَّدٍ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ، هِيَ لَيْلَةُ القَدْرِ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ – كَمَا جَاءَ فِي آيَةٍ أُخْرَى – لِيَعْلَمَ النَّاسُ مَا يَنْفَعُهُمْ فَيَعْمَلُوا بِهِ، وَمَا يَضُرُّهُمْ لِيَجْتَنِبُوهُ، وَلِتَقُومَ عَلَيْهِمْ حُجَّةُ اللهِ.
(3) – أَقْسَمَ اللهُ تَعَالَى بِالقُرْآنِ المُبِينِ عَلَى أَنَّهُ بَدَأ إِنْزَالَ القُرْآنِ عَلَى عَبْدِهِ وَرَسُولِهِ مُحَمَّدٍ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ، هِيَ لَيْلَةُ القَدْرِ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ – كَمَا جَاءَ فِي آيَةٍ أُخْرَى – لِيَعْلَمَ النَّاسُ مَا يَنْفَعُهُمْ فَيَعْمَلُوا بِهِ، وَمَا يَضُرُّهُمْ لِيَجْتَنِبُوهُ، وَلِتَقُومَ عَلَيْهِمْ حُجَّةُ اللهِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 3
3. Allah Almighty swears by the lucid Quran that He began revealing the Quran to His servant and messenger, Mohammad (peace be upon him), on a blessed night, the night of power in the month of Ramadan (as mentioned in chapter 2- Al-Baqarah (The Heifer), 185) so that people can know what is good for them and follow it, and what is harmful to them and abandon it, and so that Allah’s argument can be established against them.
{فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ}
(4) – وَفِي لَيْلَةِ القَدْرِ بَدَأ سُبْحَانَهُ يُبَيِّنُ لِعِبَادِهِ مَا يَنْفَعُهُمْ مِنْ أُمُورٍ مُحْكَمَةٍ لاَ تَغْيِيرَ فِيهَا وَلاَ تَبْدِيلَ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 4
4. On the night of power, Allah Almighty started clarifying to His servants matters that are beneficial to them and that do not change.
{أَمْراً مِّنْ عِنْدِنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ}
(5) – وَبَدَأ فِي تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةِ بِإِنْزَالِ ذَلِكَ التَّشْرِيعِ الكَامِلِ، الذِي فِيهِ صَلاَحُ البَشَرِ فِي دُنْيَاهُمْ وَآخِرَتِهِمْ، وَمِنْ شَأنِهِ تَعَالَى أَنْ يُرْسِلَ الرُّسُلَ بالكُتُبِ لإِبْلاَغِ العِبَادِ مَا يُرِيدُ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 5
5. He began on that night to send down the complete legislation which contains the benefit for all mankind in this life and the Hereafter. As He was wont to do, Allah sends messengers with Books to convey to His servants what He wishes.
{رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ إِنَّهُ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ}
(6) – وَقَدْ أَرْسَلَ اللهُ الرُّسُلَ إِلَى العِبَادِ رَحْمَةً مِنْهُ بِهِمْ حَتَّى يَسْتَبِينَ لَهُمْ مَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَمَا يَنْفَعُهُمْ، وَحَتَّى لاَ تَكُونَ لَهُمْ حُجَّةٌ بَعْدَ إِرْسَالِ الرُّسُلِ، وَهُوَ تَعَالَى السَّميعُ لأَقْوَالِ العِبَادِ، العَلِيمُ بِأَحْوالِهِمْ وَأفْعَالِهِمْ وَمَصَالِحِهِمْ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 6
6. Allah sent messengers to His servants as a mercy from Him so that they can distinguish between what is harmful to them and what is beneficial, and they would thus have no excuse after that. Allah Almighty hears all that His servants say and He knows their state, their deeds and their interests.
{رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ}
{ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ}
(7) – وَالذِي أَنْزَلَ الكُتُبَ عَلَى رُسُلِهِ، هُوَ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ، وَرَبُّ الأَرْضِ، وَخَالِقُهُما، وَمالِكُهُما وَمَا فِيهِما، هذَا إِنْ كُنتُم تَطلُبُونَ مَعْرِفَةَ ذَلِكَ مَعْرِفةَ يقينٍ لا شَكَّ فِيها.
(7) – وَالذِي أَنْزَلَ الكُتُبَ عَلَى رُسُلِهِ، هُوَ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ، وَرَبُّ الأَرْضِ، وَخَالِقُهُما، وَمالِكُهُما وَمَا فِيهِما، هذَا إِنْ كُنتُم تَطلُبُونَ مَعْرِفَةَ ذَلِكَ مَعْرِفةَ يقينٍ لا شَكَّ فِيها.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 7
7. And He who sent down the Books to His messengers is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and their Creator. He is their Master and the Master of all they contain. This is if you seek the certain knowledge about which there is no doubt.
{لاَ إِلَـٰهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ يُحْيِـي وَيُمِيتُ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَآئِكُمُ ٱلأَوَّلِينَ}
{آبَآئِكُمُ} {يُحْيِـي}
(8) – وهو الإِلهُ الذِي لا تَصلُحُ العِبادَةُ إِلاَّ لَهُ، وَهُوَ الذِي يُحيي مَا يَشَاءُ ممّا يقبلُ الحَيَاةَ، وَيُمِيتُ ما يَشَاءُ عندَ انتِهاءِ أَجلِهِ، وَهُوَ خَالِقُكُمْ وخَالِقُ آبائِكم الأَوَّلِينَ فاعبُدُوهُ، ولا تُشْرِكُوا بِه شَيئاً.
(8) – وهو الإِلهُ الذِي لا تَصلُحُ العِبادَةُ إِلاَّ لَهُ، وَهُوَ الذِي يُحيي مَا يَشَاءُ ممّا يقبلُ الحَيَاةَ، وَيُمِيتُ ما يَشَاءُ عندَ انتِهاءِ أَجلِهِ، وَهُوَ خَالِقُكُمْ وخَالِقُ آبائِكم الأَوَّلِينَ فاعبُدُوهُ، ولا تُشْرِكُوا بِه شَيئاً.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 8
8. He is Allah Who should be worshipped alone. It is He who brings life to whoever He wills who can be given life, and He brings death to whoever He wills when their appointed time is due. He is your Creator and the Creator of your earliest ancestors. So worship Him and do not give Him associates.
{بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ}
(9) – بَلْ هؤلاءِ المُشْرِكُونَ فِي شَكٍّ مِنَ التَّوحيدِ وَمَن البَعْثِ، ومِنَ الاعْتِرَافِ بِوحْدَانيةِ اللهِ، وقُدْرَتِهِ عَلَى الخَلْقِ، وَقَدْ قَابَلُوا دَعْوَةَ الحقّ التِي جَاءَ بَها الرَّسُولُ، بِالهزْءِ والسُخْرِيةِ، فِعْلَ اللاعِبِ العَابِثِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 9
9. But those polytheists are in doubt about the message of monotheism and about the power of Allah to create and to resuscitate. They received the message of truth which the prophet brought to them with mockery and ridicule as does he who is amusing himself.
{فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ}
(10) – قَالَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ: إِنَّ قُرَيشاً لَمَّا أَبْطَأَتْ عَنِ الإِسلامِ، وَاستَعْصَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، دَعا اللهَ أَنْ يُنزِلَ بِهِمْ سِنين كَسِنِّي يُوسُفَ، فَأَصَابَهُمْ جُوعٌ، وَجَهْدٌ عَظِيمَانِ، حَتَّى أَكَلُوا العِظَامَ وَالميتَةَ، وَجَعَلُوا يَرْفَعُونَ رُؤُوسَهُمْ إِلَى السَّماءِ فَلاَ يَرَوْنَ إِلاَّ الدُّخَانَ، فَأَتى بَعْضُهُمْ إِلى رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ اسْتَسْقِ الله لِمُضَرَ فَإِنَّها قَدْ هَلَكَتْ، فَاسْتَسْقَى لَهُم فَسُقوا، فَلَمَّا كَشَفَ الله تَعَالَى عَنْهُمُ العَذَابَ عَادُوا إِلى حَالِهم الأَوَّلِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 10
10. Ibn Massoud said: “When the people of Quraish held back from embracing Islam and defied the Prophet (peace be upon him), He prayed to Allah to descend upon them such years as Joseph’s years. They were thus afflicted with great famine and fatigue to the extent that they ate bones and dead animals. They would look up at the sky and see only smoke. Some of the people came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said: “O Messenger of Allah! Ask Allah to send rain on Mudar, for it has perished.” The Messenger prayed to Allah for rain and indeed it did rain. But when Allah Almighty removed the punishment they returned to their earlier state.
{يَغْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ هَـٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ}
(11) – وَحِينَما تأتي السَّماءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُبينٍ فَإِنَّه يَلُفُّ النَّاسَ، وَيُحيطُ بِهمْ مِنْ كُلِّ جَانبٍ فَيَقُولُون: هَذَا عَذابٌ شَدِيدُ الإِيلامِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 11
11. When the sky brings forth smoke that is plainly visible, it will encircle the people on all sides and they will say: “This is a grievous punishment.”
{رَّبَّنَا ٱكْشِفْ عَنَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مْؤْمِنُونَ}
(12) – وَقَدْ أَبَانَ اللهُ تَعَالى في هذِه الآيةِ الكَريمةِ أَنَّ مُشْركي قُريشٍ وَعَدُوا رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بأَن يُؤْمِنوا إِذا كَشَفَ عَنْهُمُ العَذابَ، فَقَالُوا رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا العَذَابَ إِنَّنا آمَنَّا بِكَ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 12
12. Allah Almighty reveals in this noble verse that the polytheists of Quraish promised the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) to become believers if the punishment was removed. They said: “O Lord, remove the punishment for we believe in You.’
{أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ}
(13) – وَكَيفَ يَتذكَّرُ هؤلاءِ، ويُوفُون بما وَعَدُوا بهِ رَسُولَ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، منَ الإِيمانِ إِذَا دَعَا لَهُم فَكَشَفَ عَنْهُمُ العَذابَ، وَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ، بَيِّنُ الرِّسالةِ، مُؤَيِّدٌ بِالمُعجِزَاتِ فَلَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا لهُ، وَكَذَّبُوهُ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 13
13. How can they remember to keep the promise which they made to the Messenger of Alllah (peace be upon him), which is to believe if he prayed to Allah to remove the punishment, when a Messenger had already been sent to them with a clear message supported by miracles, and yet they did not believe in him and treated him as a liar.
{ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْاْ عَنْهُ وَقَالُواْ مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ}
(14) – ثُمَّ أَعْرَضُوا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا: إِنَّهُ رَجُلٌ مَجْنُونٌ مَخْبُولُ العَقْلِ، يُعَلِّمُهُ بَعْضُ الأَعَاجِمِ مَا يقُولُ، فَيدَّعِي بِأَنَّهُ مُنَزَّلٌ عَليهِ مِنْ عِندِ اللهِ تَعَالى.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 14
14. Then they turned away from him and said: “He is a mad man who has been taught by non-Arabs to say what he says and therefore he claims that it has been sent to him by Allah Almighty.”
{إِنَّا كَاشِفُواْ ٱلْعَذَابِ قَلِيلاً إِنَّكُمْ عَآئِدُونَ}
{كَاشِفُو} {عَآئِدُونَ}
(15) – إِنَّنا سَنَرْفَعُ عَنْهُم الضُّرَّ النَّازِلَ بِهَمْ لِبَعْضِ الوَقْتِ، فَنُنَزِّلُ عَلَيهِمِ المَطَرَ لِتنبتَ الأَرْضُ، وَإِنَّنا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّهمُ عَائِدُونَ إِلى مَا كَانُوا عَليهِ مِنَ الكفرِ والتَّكذِيبِ.
(15) – إِنَّنا سَنَرْفَعُ عَنْهُم الضُّرَّ النَّازِلَ بِهَمْ لِبَعْضِ الوَقْتِ، فَنُنَزِّلُ عَلَيهِمِ المَطَرَ لِتنبتَ الأَرْضُ، وَإِنَّنا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّهمُ عَائِدُونَ إِلى مَا كَانُوا عَليهِ مِنَ الكفرِ والتَّكذِيبِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 15
15. We shall dissipate the harm that has visited them for a while. Therefore, We send down rain to help the earth put forth plants. But We know that they will revert to their former denial and disbelief.
{يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ ٱلْبَطْشَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ}
(16) – وَيَومَ القِيَامةِ يَبْطِشُ اللهُ تَعَالى بِهِم البَطْشَةَ الكُبْرى، وَيَنْتَقِمُ مِنْهُمْ أَشَدَّ الانْتِقَامِ، وَلا يَجِدُونَ لَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللهِ مَنْ يَنْصُرهُمْ أو يَشْفَعُ لَهُمْ، فَينْدَمُونَ على مَا فَرَّطُوا في جَنبِ اللهِ، وَلاتَ سَاعَةَ مَنْدَمٍ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 16
16. On the Day of Judgement, Allah Almighty will seize them with violence and will take revenge Himself on them rigorously. They will not find anyone to mediate in their favour or help them against Allah Almighty. They will then regret that they neglected Allah. But alas it would be too late for regrets.
{وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ}
(17) – وَلَقَدْ اخْتَبَرَ اللهُ تَعَالَى، قَبْلَ مُشْرِكي قَومِكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ، القِبْطَ مِنْ قومِ فِرْعَونَ، إِذْ أَرْسَلَ اللهُ تَعَالَى إِليهِمْ مُوسَى عَليهِ السَّلامُ، وَهُوَ رَسُولٌ كَريمٌ، فَكَفَروا بِما جَاءَهُمْ بِهِ، وَسَخِروا مِنهُ عِنَاداً واسْتِكْباراً.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 17
17. Before the polytheists among your people, O Mohammad, Allah Almighty had already tested the Copts among Pharaoh’s people. For Allah Almighty sent to them Moses (peace be upon him), a noble messenger, but they rejected what he brought to them arrogantly and stubbornly, and they mocked him.
{أَنْ أَدُّوۤاْ إِلَيَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ}
(18) – فَقَالَ مُوسَى لِفِرْعَونَ وَقَومِهِ: أَدُّوا إِليَّ يَا عِبَادَ اللهِ مَا هُوَ وَاجبٌ عَليكم، واستَجِيبُوا لِدَعْوَةِ اللهِ تَعَالى، فَإِني رَسُولُ اللهِ إِليكُم، وَإِني أمينٌ فِيما أُبلِّغكُمْ عَنْ رَبي.
(أَوِ اسْمَحُوا لِبَني إِسْرَائيلَ أَنْ يَخرُجُوا مَعِي).
(أَوِ اسْمَحُوا لِبَني إِسْرَائيلَ أَنْ يَخرُجُوا مَعِي).
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 18
18. Moses told Pharaoh and his people: “Discharge your duty to me, O servants of Allah, and answer Allah Almighty’s invitation. I am the messenger of Allah to you and I am honest in what I convey to you from my Lord.
{وَأَن لاَّ تَعْلُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ إِنِّيۤ آتِيكُمْ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ}
{ۤ آتِيكُمْ} {بِسُلْطَانٍ}
(19) – ولا تَسْتَكْبِرُوا عنِ اتِّبَاعِ آيَاتِ اللهِ تَعَالَى والانْقِيَادِ إِلى حُجَجهِ، فإِني آتيكُم بِمُعْجِزَاتٍ بَاهِرَةٍ، وأدِلةٍ قَاطِعةٍ، عَلى صِدْقِ ما جِئْتُكُمْ بِهِ.
لاَ تَعْلُوا – لاَ تَتَكَبَّرُوا ولا تَغْتَرُّوا.
بِسُلْطَانٍ – بِحُجَّةٍ وَبُرْهَانٍ عَلَى صِدْقِ نُبُوَّتِي.
(19) – ولا تَسْتَكْبِرُوا عنِ اتِّبَاعِ آيَاتِ اللهِ تَعَالَى والانْقِيَادِ إِلى حُجَجهِ، فإِني آتيكُم بِمُعْجِزَاتٍ بَاهِرَةٍ، وأدِلةٍ قَاطِعةٍ، عَلى صِدْقِ ما جِئْتُكُمْ بِهِ.
لاَ تَعْلُوا – لاَ تَتَكَبَّرُوا ولا تَغْتَرُّوا.
بِسُلْطَانٍ – بِحُجَّةٍ وَبُرْهَانٍ عَلَى صِدْقِ نُبُوَّتِي.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 19
19. “And do not be too arrogant to follow Almighty Allah’s signs and to submit to His evidence, for I come to with extraordinary miracles and irrefutable evidence to prove the truth of what I have brought to you.
{وَإِنِّي عُذْتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ}
(20) – وَإِنِّي أَلْتَجِئُ إِلى اللهِ رَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ مِنْ أَنْ تَقْتُلُوني رَجْماً بِالحِجَارَةِ.
إنِّي عُذْتُ – إِنِّي استَجَرْتُ وَالتَجَأْتُ.
أَنْ تَرْجُمُونِ – أَنْ تَقْتُلُونِي رَجْماً بِالحِجَارَةِ.
إنِّي عُذْتُ – إِنِّي استَجَرْتُ وَالتَجَأْتُ.
أَنْ تَرْجُمُونِ – أَنْ تَقْتُلُونِي رَجْماً بِالحِجَارَةِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 20
20. “And I have sought refuge in Allah my Lord against your stoning me to death.
{وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُواْ لِي فَٱعْتَزِلُونِ}
(21) – وَإِذا لَمْ تُصَدِّقُوا ما جِئْتُكُمْ بهِ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ فَخَلُّوا سَبِيلِي وَدَعُوا الأَمْرَ مُسَالمةً بَيْني وَبَيْنَكُمْ إِلى أَنْ يَقْضِيَ اللهُ تَعَالى بَيْنَنَا بِالحَقِّ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الفَاتِحِينَ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 21
21. “But if you do not believe what I have brought to you from your Lord, release me and let us reconcile until Allah Almighty judges between us in all truth: He is the best of judges.” .
{فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنَّ هَـٰؤُلاَءِ قَوْمٌ مُّجْرِمُونَ}
(22) – وَلَمَّا طَالَ مُقَامُ مُوسَى بَيْنَ ظَهْرَانَيْهِمْ، وَأَقَامَ الحُجَّةَ عَليهِمْ، وَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ ذلِكَ إِلاّ كُفْراً وَعِنَاداً واسْتِكْبَاراً عَنِ الحَقِّ، وَرَفَضُوا أَنْ يُرسِلُوا مَعُهُ بَنِي إِسْرائِيلَ دَعَا رَبَّهُ مُسْتَنْصِراً بِهِ عَلَيهِمْ، وَقَالَ: يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ هؤُلاءِ قَوْمٌ مُشْرِكُونَ بِكَ، مُكَذِّبونَ رَسُولَكَ، فَأَنْزِلْ بِهِمْ بَأْسَكَ وَعَذَابَكَ المَوْعُودَ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 22
22. When Moses had stayed long among them and had established the argument against them which only increased their disbelief, stubbornness and arrogance against the Truth so that they refused to send the children of Israel with him, he called on his Lord seeking refuge in Him: “O Lord, those are people who attributed associates to You and treated Your messengers as liars. So send down upon them Your promised punishment.”
{فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي لَيْلاً إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ}
(23) – وَحِينَئِذٍ أَمرَه اللهُ تَعَالَى بِأَنْ يَسِيرَ بِبَني إِسْرائيلَ لَيْلاً (يُسْرِي) مِنْ غَيرِ إِذنِ فِرْعَوْنَ وَلاَ رأْيهِ، وَأَعْلَمَ اللهُ تَعَالَى مُوسَى بأَنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ وَقَوْمَه سَيَتْبَعُونَ آثارَهُمْ.
فَأَسْرِ – سِرْ ببني إِسْرَائيلَ لَيْلاً.
مُتَّبَعُونَ – يَتْبَعُكُمْ فِرْعَونُ وَجُنْدُهُ.
فَأَسْرِ – سِرْ ببني إِسْرَائيلَ لَيْلاً.
مُتَّبَعُونَ – يَتْبَعُكُمْ فِرْعَونُ وَجُنْدُهُ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 23
23. Allah Almighty then commanded him to travel by night with the Israelites, without Pharaoh’s permission or opinion. Allah Almighty informed Moses that Pharaoh and his people would pursue their trail.
{وَٱتْرُكِ ٱلْبَحْرَ رَهْواً إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌ مُّغْرَقُونَ}
(24) – بَعْدَ أَنْ وَصَلَ مُوسى وَبَنُو إِسْرَائيلَ إِلى البَحْرِ أَمَرَ اللهُ تَعَالى مُوسى بِأَنْ يَضْرِبَ بِعَصَاهُ البَحْرَ، فَانْفَلَقَ، ثُمَّ أَوْحَى اللهُ إِلى مُوسَى أَنْ يُجَاوِزَ بِبَني إِسرائيلَ البَحْرَ من خِلالِ الفِرقِ الذِي حَدَثَ في المَاءِ مِنْ أَثَرِ ضَرْبَةِ مُوسَى، وَبَعْدَ أَنْ جَاوَزَ بَنُوا إِسرائيلَ البَحْرَ إِلى الجَانِبِ الآخَرِ، أرادَ مُوسَى أَنْ يَضْرِبَ البَحْرَ بِعَصَاهُ لِيُعيدَهُ إِلى مَا كَانَ عَلَيهِ لِكَيْلا يَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ وَجُنْدُهُ مِنَ الفَروقِ الحَادِثَةِ في الماءِ، فَأَمرَ اللهُ تَعَالى مُوسَى بِتَركِ البَحْرِ كَما هُوَ حِينَ مَرَّ بِهِ سَاكِناً يَابِساً (رَهْواً)، لأَِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى قَدَّرَ بأَنَّهُ سَيُغْرِقُ فِرْعَونَ وَقَومَه فِيهِ، وَبَشَّرَ مُوسى بِذَلِكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ (إِنَّهُم جُنْدٌ مُغْرَقُونَ).
اتْركِ البَحرَ رَهْواً – هَادِئاً سَاكِناً أَوْ مُنْفَرِجاً مَفْتُوحاً.
جُنْدٌ – جَمَاعَةٌ.

Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 24
24. When Moses and the children of Israel reached the sea, Allah Almighty commanded Moses to lift his staff and strike the sea, which divided. Allah Almighty then inspired Moses to cross the sea with the Israelites through the furrow that happened in the sea when Moses hit it. After they had crossed to the other side, Moses wanted to strike the sea with his cane once more so that it would return to its former state so that Pharaoh and his host should not follow them through the furrow. However, Allah Almighty commanded him to leave the sea divided as it was, for He had decreed that He would drown Pharaoh and his people, and He announced the good news to Moses, saying to him: “They will be drowned”.
{كَمْ تَرَكُوا مِنْ جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ}

Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 25
25. How many green fields and lovely gardens and springs of running water and rivers did Pharaoh and his people leave behind before their destruction?
{وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ}
(26) – وَكَمْ تَرَكُوا مِنْ زُرُوعٍ نَاضِرَةٍ، وَمَسَاكِنَ طَيِّبَةٍ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 26
26. How many verdant fields and grand buildings did they leave behind?
{وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُواْ فِيهَا فَاكِهِينَ}
{فَاكِهِينَ}
(27) – وَعَيْشٍ رَغِيدٍ كَانُوا يَتَفَكَّهُونَ فِيهِ فَيَأْكُلُونَ مَا شَاؤُوا، وَيَلْبَسُونَ مَا أَحَبُّوا.
نَعْمَةٍ – تَنَعُّمٍ وَنضَارَةِ عَيْشٍ.
فَاكِهِينَ – نَاعِمِينَ مُتَفَكَّهِينَ.
(27) – وَعَيْشٍ رَغِيدٍ كَانُوا يَتَفَكَّهُونَ فِيهِ فَيَأْكُلُونَ مَا شَاؤُوا، وَيَلْبَسُونَ مَا أَحَبُّوا.
نَعْمَةٍ – تَنَعُّمٍ وَنضَارَةِ عَيْشٍ.
فَاكِهِينَ – نَاعِمِينَ مُتَفَكَّهِينَ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 27
27. And they left a life of comfort which they enjoyed. They would eat whatever they wanted and dress in what pleased them.
{كَذَلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا قَوْماً آخَرِينَ}
{وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا} {آخَرِينَ}
(28) – فَأَهْلَكَهُمُ اللهُ تَعَالى فِي صَبِيحَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ، وَهكَذَا يَفْعَلُ اللهُ بِالذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ رُسُلَهُ، وَيُخَالِفُونَ عَنْ أَمرِهِ فإِنَّهُ يُبِيدُهُمْ وَيُورِثُ أَرْضَهُمْ قَوْماً آخرينَ لَيْسُوا مِنْهُمْ فِي شيءٍ قَرابةً ولا دِيناً.
(28) – فَأَهْلَكَهُمُ اللهُ تَعَالى فِي صَبِيحَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ، وَهكَذَا يَفْعَلُ اللهُ بِالذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ رُسُلَهُ، وَيُخَالِفُونَ عَنْ أَمرِهِ فإِنَّهُ يُبِيدُهُمْ وَيُورِثُ أَرْضَهُمْ قَوْماً آخرينَ لَيْسُوا مِنْهُمْ فِي شيءٍ قَرابةً ولا دِيناً.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 28
28. But Allah Almighty destroyed them with a single stroke one morning. Thus Allah does to those who deny His messengers and infringe His commands. He will destroy them and let other people who have neither ties of kinship nor of religion inherit their land.
{فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ وَٱلأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُنظَرِينَ}
(29) – وَقَدْ كَانَ هؤلاءِ الطُّغَاةُ العُتَاةُ هَيِّنِينَ عَلَى اللهِ، وَعَلى عِبادِ اللهِ، إِذْ لَم يَكُنْ لَهُمْ عَمَلٌ صَالِحٌ يُرَفَعُ إِلى السَّماء، وَلاَ عَمَلُ خَيرٍ مَعَ عِبَادِ اللهِ في الأَرضِ يُذكرُ لهم، فَلم تبكِ لفَقْدِهِم الأرضُ ولا السَّماءُ، وَلم يُمْهَلُوا لِتَوْبةٍ، وَإِنَّما عَجَّلَ اللهُ لَهُمُ العَذَابَ دُونَ إِبْطَاءِ. وَسَأَلَ رَجُلٌ عَلياً رَضِي اللهَ عَنْهُ: هَلْ تَبكيِ السَّمَاءُ والأَرضُ عَلَى أَحَدٍ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ عَبْدٍ إِلا لَهُ مُصَلّىً فِي الأَرْضُ، وَمَصْعَدُ عَمَلِهِ مِنَ السَّماءِ، وَإِنَّ آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُمْ عَمَلٌ صَالِحٌ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلاَ عَمَلٌ يَصْعَدُ فِي السَّماءِ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ الآيةَ الكَرِيمَةَ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 29
29. Those oppressors meant nothing to Allah or to the servants of Allah, for they had done no good deed which could be raised to heaven or any charitable act on earth by which they could be remembered. Therefore, neither the earth nor the heaven shed a tear over them. They were not given another chance to repent because Allah hastened their punishment. A man asked Ali: “Do the heaven and the earth shed tears over anyone?” He said: “Each servant has a place on earth where he prays, and a place in heaven where his deeds are raised. But the family of Pharaoh had not done any good deed on earth or any act that could be raised to heaven.” And he recited this verse.
{وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِيۤ إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْمُهِينِ}
{إِسْرَائِيلَ}
(30) – يَمْتَنُّ اللهُ تَعَالَى عَلَى بَني إِسْرائِيلَ إِذْ أَنقذَهم من أسرِ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمِنْ عَذَابِهِ المُهِينِ الذي أَخْضَعَهُمْ لَهُ، إِذْ كَانَ يَسْتَخْدِمُهُمْ فِي أشَقِّ الأَعْمَالِ وَأَخَسِّها، وَكَانَ يَذْبَحُ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ، وَيَسْتَحِيي نِسَاءَهُمْ، زِيَادَةً في النَّكَالِ وَالإِذْلاَلِ.
(30) – يَمْتَنُّ اللهُ تَعَالَى عَلَى بَني إِسْرائِيلَ إِذْ أَنقذَهم من أسرِ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمِنْ عَذَابِهِ المُهِينِ الذي أَخْضَعَهُمْ لَهُ، إِذْ كَانَ يَسْتَخْدِمُهُمْ فِي أشَقِّ الأَعْمَالِ وَأَخَسِّها، وَكَانَ يَذْبَحُ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ، وَيَسْتَحِيي نِسَاءَهُمْ، زِيَادَةً في النَّكَالِ وَالإِذْلاَلِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 30
30. Allah Almighty bestowed His favours on the children of Israel in that He delivered them from Pharaoh’s imprisonment and the humiliating and severe torture which he inflicted on them. Pharaoh used them for the hardest and lowliest labour, and he slaughtered their sons and let their women live, thus to add to their humiliation and abasement.
{مِن فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَالِياً مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ}
(31) – وَكَانَ فِرْعَوْنُ جَبَّاراً عنِيداً مُسْتَكْبِراً عَلَى قَومِهِ، مُسْرِفاً في الشَّرِّ وَالطُّغيَانِ.
عَالِياً – مُتَكَبِّراً جَبَّاراً.
عَالِياً – مُتَكَبِّراً جَبَّاراً.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 31
31. Pharaoh was haughty, stubborn, and tyrannical among his people, and he exceeded all bounds by committing evil and oppressing his people.
{وَلَقَدِ ٱخْتَرْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى ٱلْعَالَمِينَ}
{ٱخْتَرْنَاهُمْ} {ٱلْعَالَمِينَ}
(32) – وَلَقَدِ اصْطَفَى اللهُ بَني إِسرائِيلَ وَفَضَّلَهُمْ عَلَى أَهْلِ زَمَانِهِمْ، بِما أَنزَلَ عَليهِمْ مِنَ الكُتُبِ، وَمَا أَرسَلَ إِليهِمِ مِنَ الرُّسُلِ وَالأَنبياءِ، وقدِ اصطَفَاهُمُ اللهُ وَهُوَ عَالمٌ بأَنَّهُمْ سَيَكُونُونَ حَمَلَةَ الإِيمانِ فِي زَمانِهِمْ.
عَلَى العَالَمِينَ – عَلَى العَالَمِ مِنْ أَهْلِ زَمَانِهِمْ.
(32) – وَلَقَدِ اصْطَفَى اللهُ بَني إِسرائِيلَ وَفَضَّلَهُمْ عَلَى أَهْلِ زَمَانِهِمْ، بِما أَنزَلَ عَليهِمْ مِنَ الكُتُبِ، وَمَا أَرسَلَ إِليهِمِ مِنَ الرُّسُلِ وَالأَنبياءِ، وقدِ اصطَفَاهُمُ اللهُ وَهُوَ عَالمٌ بأَنَّهُمْ سَيَكُونُونَ حَمَلَةَ الإِيمانِ فِي زَمانِهِمْ.
عَلَى العَالَمِينَ – عَلَى العَالَمِ مِنْ أَهْلِ زَمَانِهِمْ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 32
32. Allah Almighty had chosen the children of Israel and preferred them to other nations of their time. He revealed the holy Books to them and sent messengers and prophets to them knowing that they would be the preachers of faith and belief in their days.
{وَآتَيْنَاهُم مِّنَ ٱلآيَاتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلاَءٌ مُّبِينٌ}
{آتَيْنَاهُم} {ٱلآيَاتِ} {بَلاَءٌ}
(33) – وَأَعْطَاهُمُ اللهُ تَعَالى عَلَى يَدِ مُوسَى مِنَ الكَرَامَاتِ مَا يَدُلُّ عَلَى كَرامَتِهِمْ عَلَى اللهِ تَعَالى، فَأْنْجَاهُمْ مِنْ عَدُوِّهِمْ، وَظَلَّل عَلَيهِمُ الغَمَامَ في صَحْراءِ سِيناءَ الشَّدِيدَةِ الحرِّ، وَأَنزَلَ عَلَيهم المَنَّ والسَّلْوى لِيَأْكُلُوا مِنْهُما، وَفَجَّرَ لَهُمُ المَاءَ مِنَ الحَجَرِ، وَنَصَرَهُمْ عَلى أَعْدَائِهِمْ.
بَلاَءٌ مُبِينٌ – اخْتِبَارٌ ظَاهِرٌ.
(33) – وَأَعْطَاهُمُ اللهُ تَعَالى عَلَى يَدِ مُوسَى مِنَ الكَرَامَاتِ مَا يَدُلُّ عَلَى كَرامَتِهِمْ عَلَى اللهِ تَعَالى، فَأْنْجَاهُمْ مِنْ عَدُوِّهِمْ، وَظَلَّل عَلَيهِمُ الغَمَامَ في صَحْراءِ سِيناءَ الشَّدِيدَةِ الحرِّ، وَأَنزَلَ عَلَيهم المَنَّ والسَّلْوى لِيَأْكُلُوا مِنْهُما، وَفَجَّرَ لَهُمُ المَاءَ مِنَ الحَجَرِ، وَنَصَرَهُمْ عَلى أَعْدَائِهِمْ.
بَلاَءٌ مُبِينٌ – اخْتِبَارٌ ظَاهِرٌ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 33
33. Allah Almighty granted them dignity, through Moses, which revealed their place of honour with Allah Almighty. He saved them from their enemy, gave them the shade of a cloud to protect them from the heat of the Sinai desert, sent them the manna and quail so that they could eat and made water gush forth from the rocks for them. He also made them victorious over their enemies.
{إِنَّ هَـٰؤُلاَءِ لَيَقُولُونَ}
(34) – إِنَّ مُشرِكي مَكَّةَ المُكَذِّبينَ بِالبَعْثِ وَالنُّشُورِ يَقُولُونَ: {إِنْ هِيَ إِلاَّ مَوْتَتُنَا ٱلأُوْلَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ}.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 34
34. The polytheists of Makkah who denied the Resurrection and life after death say:
{إِنْ هِيَ إِلاَّ مَوْتَتُنَا ٱلأُوْلَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ}
(35) – لَيْسَ ثَمَّ إِلاَّ هذِهِ الحَيَاةُ الدُّنيا، وَلاَ بَعْثَ بَعْدَ المَوتِ، وَلاَ حَشْرَ وَلاَ حِسَابَ.
بِمُنْشَرِينَ – بِمَبْعُوثِينَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِنا.
بِمُنْشَرِينَ – بِمَبْعُوثِينَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِنا.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 35
35. “There is nothing beyond our life on earth; there will be no Resurrection after death or assembly or judgement.
{فَأْتُواْ بِآبَآئِنَا إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ}
{بِآبَآئِنَا} {صَادِقِينَ}
(36) – فَإِذَا كَانَ حَقّاً مَا تَقُولُونَ مِنْ أَنَّ اللهَ تَعَالى سَيَبْعَثُ الخَلاَئِقَ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ لِيُحَاسِبَهُمْ عَلَى أَعْمالِهِمْ فَعَجِّلُوا لَنَا بِإِحيَاءِ آبَائِنا المَاضِينَ لِنَعْلَمَ صِدْقَكُمْ فِيما تَقُولُون.
(36) – فَإِذَا كَانَ حَقّاً مَا تَقُولُونَ مِنْ أَنَّ اللهَ تَعَالى سَيَبْعَثُ الخَلاَئِقَ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ لِيُحَاسِبَهُمْ عَلَى أَعْمالِهِمْ فَعَجِّلُوا لَنَا بِإِحيَاءِ آبَائِنا المَاضِينَ لِنَعْلَمَ صِدْقَكُمْ فِيما تَقُولُون.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 36
36. “So if what you say is true when you claim that Allah Almighty will resurrect all creatures on Judgement Day to give account for their deeds, then hasten the resurrection of our deceased ancestors to know that what you say is true.”
{أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ مُجْرِمِينَ}
{أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ}
(37) – وَلَقَدْ كَانَ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ مُشْرِكي مَكَّةَ قُوَّةً، وَأَكْثَر غِنىً، وَأَعْزَّ نَفَراً، وَكَانَ قَبْلَ قَوْمِ تُبَّعٍ أَقْوَامٌ أُخْرَى ذَوُو غِنىً وَقُوَّةٍ أَهْلَكَهُمْ اللهُ جَميعاً، وَخَرَّبَ دِيَارَهُمْ لما عَتَوا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ، وَكَذَّبُوا رُسُلَهُ لأَِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ، وَهذهِ هيَ سُنَّةُ اللهِ في المُجرِمينِ المكَذَّبِينَ، أَنْ يُهْلِكَهُمْ اللهُ، وَلاَ يُبْقِي لَهُمْ في أَرْضِهِمْ مِنْ بَاقِيةٍ، فَلْيَعْتَبِرْ كُفَّارُ قَرَيشٍ بِمَا حَلَّ بِغَيرِهِمْ.
قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ – مَلِكٌ مِنْ مُلُوكِ اليَمَنِ مِنْ حِمْيَر.
(37) – وَلَقَدْ كَانَ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ مُشْرِكي مَكَّةَ قُوَّةً، وَأَكْثَر غِنىً، وَأَعْزَّ نَفَراً، وَكَانَ قَبْلَ قَوْمِ تُبَّعٍ أَقْوَامٌ أُخْرَى ذَوُو غِنىً وَقُوَّةٍ أَهْلَكَهُمْ اللهُ جَميعاً، وَخَرَّبَ دِيَارَهُمْ لما عَتَوا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ، وَكَذَّبُوا رُسُلَهُ لأَِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ، وَهذهِ هيَ سُنَّةُ اللهِ في المُجرِمينِ المكَذَّبِينَ، أَنْ يُهْلِكَهُمْ اللهُ، وَلاَ يُبْقِي لَهُمْ في أَرْضِهِمْ مِنْ بَاقِيةٍ، فَلْيَعْتَبِرْ كُفَّارُ قَرَيشٍ بِمَا حَلَّ بِغَيرِهِمْ.
قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ – مَلِكٌ مِنْ مُلُوكِ اليَمَنِ مِنْ حِمْيَر.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 37
37. The people of Tubba were mightier, wealthier, and more numerous than the polytheists of Makkah. And before the people of Tubba there were other nations as mighty and wealthy as them: Allah destroyed them all and destroyed their dwellings when they disobeyed their Lord and treated His messengers as liars because they were evil sinners. This is Allah’s law for all the sinners who treated Allah’s message as a lie: Allah destroys them and leaves no one on their land. Let the unbelievers of Quraish draw a lesson from what became of others.
{وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَـٰعِبِينَ}
{ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ} {لاَعِبِينَ}
(38) – يُنَزِّهُ اللهُ تَعَالَى نَفْسَهُ الكَرِيمَةَ عَنِ اللَّعِب وَالعَبَثِ وَالبَاطِلِ، فَيَقُولُ إِنَّهُ لم يَخْلُقِ الخَلْقَ عَبَثاً وَدُونَ حِكْمَةٍ، كَأَنْ يُوجِدهُمْ ثُمَّ يُفْنِيهِمْ دُونَ امتِحَانٍ وَابتِلاءٍ، وَدُونَ مُجَازاةٍ عَلَى العَمَلِ، إِنْ خَيْراً فَخَيراً وَإِنْ شَرّاً فَشَرّاً.
(38) – يُنَزِّهُ اللهُ تَعَالَى نَفْسَهُ الكَرِيمَةَ عَنِ اللَّعِب وَالعَبَثِ وَالبَاطِلِ، فَيَقُولُ إِنَّهُ لم يَخْلُقِ الخَلْقَ عَبَثاً وَدُونَ حِكْمَةٍ، كَأَنْ يُوجِدهُمْ ثُمَّ يُفْنِيهِمْ دُونَ امتِحَانٍ وَابتِلاءٍ، وَدُونَ مُجَازاةٍ عَلَى العَمَلِ، إِنْ خَيْراً فَخَيراً وَإِنْ شَرّاً فَشَرّاً.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 38
38. Allah Almighty purifies His noble Self from games, amusement, and wrong. He says that He did not create the creatures for mere diversion, without wisdom, as if He were giving life and death without trial and compensation for deeds, a good reward for good deeds and an evil reward for evil deeds.
{مَا خَلَقْنَاهُمَآ إِلاَّ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ}
{خَلَقْنَاهُمَآ}
(39) – إِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى لَمْ يَخْلقِ الخَلْقَ إِلاَّ لِحكْمةٍ مَقْصُودَةٍ، وَذلِكَ لِيَدُلَّ النَّاسَ بِخَلْقِهِمْ عَلَى وُجُودِ الخَالِق وَوَاحدَانِيَّتِهِ، وَوُجُوبِ الإِطَاعَةِ وَالإِنَابَةِ إِلَيهِ، وَلكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ المُشْركينَ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ، وَلذلِكَ فَإِنَّهُمْ لاَ يَخَافُونَ مِنْ سُخْطِهِ عَلَيهم لما يَجْتَرِحُونَهُ مِنَ السَّيِّئاتِ، وَهُم لاَ يَرْجونَ ثَوابَهُ عَلَى مَا يَفْعلُونَه مِنْ خَيرٍ.
(39) – إِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى لَمْ يَخْلقِ الخَلْقَ إِلاَّ لِحكْمةٍ مَقْصُودَةٍ، وَذلِكَ لِيَدُلَّ النَّاسَ بِخَلْقِهِمْ عَلَى وُجُودِ الخَالِق وَوَاحدَانِيَّتِهِ، وَوُجُوبِ الإِطَاعَةِ وَالإِنَابَةِ إِلَيهِ، وَلكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ المُشْركينَ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ، وَلذلِكَ فَإِنَّهُمْ لاَ يَخَافُونَ مِنْ سُخْطِهِ عَلَيهم لما يَجْتَرِحُونَهُ مِنَ السَّيِّئاتِ، وَهُم لاَ يَرْجونَ ثَوابَهُ عَلَى مَا يَفْعلُونَه مِنْ خَيرٍ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 39
39. Allah created His creatures for a wise and just purpose, which is to show people through creating them that there is a Creator, and that He is the One and only Allah, and that they should obey Him and turn to Him. But most polytheists do not know this. Therefore they do not fear His wrath for the sins which they commit, and they do not hope for His reward for the good that they do.
{إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ مِيقَاتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ}
{مِيقَاتُهُمْ}
(40) – إِنَّ يَومَ القِيَامَةِ الذِي يَفْصِلُ اللهُ تَعَالى فِيهِ بَينَ الخَلاَئِقِ، فَيُحِقُّ الحَقَّ وَيُبطِلُ البَاطِلَ، هُوَ آتٍ لاَ مَحَالَةَ، وَهُوَ مَوعِدُ حِسَابِهِمْ وَجَزَائِهِمْ عَلَى مَا عَمِلُوا في الدُّنيا مِنْ خَيرٍ وَمِنْ شَرٍّ.
يَوْمَ الفَصْلِ – يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ والحِسَابِ.
(40) – إِنَّ يَومَ القِيَامَةِ الذِي يَفْصِلُ اللهُ تَعَالى فِيهِ بَينَ الخَلاَئِقِ، فَيُحِقُّ الحَقَّ وَيُبطِلُ البَاطِلَ، هُوَ آتٍ لاَ مَحَالَةَ، وَهُوَ مَوعِدُ حِسَابِهِمْ وَجَزَائِهِمْ عَلَى مَا عَمِلُوا في الدُّنيا مِنْ خَيرٍ وَمِنْ شَرٍّ.
يَوْمَ الفَصْلِ – يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ والحِسَابِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 40
40. The day of Judgement when Allah Almighty will judge between His creatures so that truth is shown up and falsehood annulled is inevitably coming. It is the day of their judgement and compensation for their acts in their life on earth both good and evil.
{يَوْمَ لاَ يُغْنِي مَوْلًى عَن مَّوْلًى شَيْئاً وَلاَ هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ}
(41) – وَفي ذَلِكَ اليَومِ تَتَقَطَّعُ الأَسبابُ بينَ النَّاسِ، فَلا يَسْألُ فيهِ قَريبٌ عَنْ قَريبٍ، وَلا يَنْفَعُ النَّاسَ إِلاَّ عَمَلُهُمْ، وَلاَ يَدْفَعُ أَحَدٌ عَنْ أَحَدٍ شَيئاً مِنْ عَذَابِ اللهِ، وَلاَ يَنْصُرُ القَرِيبُ قَريبَهُ، وَلاَ يَنْصُرُه أَحَدٌ مِنْ بأسِ اللهِ.
لاَ يُغْني مَولىً – لاَ يَدفَعُ صَدِيقٌ أَو قَرِيبٌ.
لاَ يُغْني مَولىً – لاَ يَدفَعُ صَدِيقٌ أَو قَرِيبٌ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 41
41. On that Day, relations between people will break. Thus, no one will ask about his relative. Nothing will help people except their deeds and no one can protect anyone else against the punishment of Allah. No one can protect his relative from the wrath of Allah.
{إِلاَّ مَن رَّحِمَ ٱللَّهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ}
(42) – وَلاَ يَنْفَعُ النَّاسَ في ذلكَ اليَومِ إِلاَّ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ، فَمَنْ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ تَعَالَى مِنْهُمْ، فإِنَّهُ لاَ يَحتَاجُ إلى قَريبٍ يَدْفَعُ عَنْهُ، وَلا إِلى نَاصِرٍ يَنْصُرهُ، واللهُ تَعَالَى هُوَ العَزيزُ في انتِقامِهِ مِنْ أَعدائِه، الرَّحيمُ بأَولِيائِهِ وأَهلِ طَاعتِهِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 42
42. On that day nothing will be beneficial to man except Allah’s mercy. For he who receives Allah’s mercy needs no close relation to protect him and no one to help him. Allah Almighty is exalted in might, exacting in His vengeance against His enemies and most merciful to those who believe in Him and obey Him.
{إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ ٱلزَّقُّومِ}
{شَجَرَةَ}
(43) – الزَّقُومُ ثَمَرُ شَجَرَةٍ خَبِيثَةٍ تَخرُجُ في أَصْلِ النَّارِ وَثَمَرُهَا كَريهٌ، وَلكِنَّ أَهْلَ النَّارِ لاَ يَجِدُونَ مَا يَأَكُلُونَ غَيرَه لذلِكَ فإِنَّهمُ يضْطَرُّونَ إِلى أَكْلِهِ وَهُمْ كَارِهُونَ.
شَجَرةَ الزَّقُّومِ – شَجَرٌ يَنْبُتُ فِي النَّارِ.
(43) – الزَّقُومُ ثَمَرُ شَجَرَةٍ خَبِيثَةٍ تَخرُجُ في أَصْلِ النَّارِ وَثَمَرُهَا كَريهٌ، وَلكِنَّ أَهْلَ النَّارِ لاَ يَجِدُونَ مَا يَأَكُلُونَ غَيرَه لذلِكَ فإِنَّهمُ يضْطَرُّونَ إِلى أَكْلِهِ وَهُمْ كَارِهُونَ.
شَجَرةَ الزَّقُّومِ – شَجَرٌ يَنْبُتُ فِي النَّارِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 43
43. Zaqqum is the fruit of a nefarious tree that springs from the Fire and whose fruit is detestable. The inhabitants of the Fire will find nothing to eat but this fruit and will be obliged to eat it though hating it all the while.
{طَعَامُ ٱلأَثِيمِ}
(44) – وَيَقُولُ اللهُ تَعَالى إِنَّ مَصِيرَ الكَافِرِ الكَثيرِ الذُّنُوبِ والآثَامِ (الأَثِيمِ) يَكُونَ إِلى نَارِ جَهَنَّم، وَإِنَّ طَعَامَه سَيَكُونُ مِنْ شَجَرةِ الزُّقُّومِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 44
44. Allah Almighty says that the destiny of the unbeliever who has greatly sinned will be in the blazing fire and that his food will be the fruit of the Zaqqum tree.
{كَٱلْمُهْلِ يَغْلِي فِي ٱلْبُطُونِ}
(45) – وَيَقُولُ اللهُ تَعَالى إِنَّ ثَمرَ الزَّقُّومِ يَكُونُ كَعَكَرِ الزَّيتِ الأَسْوَدِ، وَهُوَ يَغْلي فِي بُطُونِ آكِليهِ بِفِعلِ حَرَارةِ الجَحِيمِ.
المُهْلِ – دَردِيِّ الزَّيتِ – عَكَرِِهِ – ذَوْبِ المَعَادِنِ.
المُهْلِ – دَردِيِّ الزَّيتِ – عَكَرِِهِ – ذَوْبِ المَعَادِنِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 45
45. Allah Almighty says that the fruit of the Zaqqum tree is like the black sediment of oil; it will boil in the bellies of those who eat it by the effect of the Fire
{كَغَلْيِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ}
(46) – كَمَا يَغْلِي المَاءُ الشَّدِيدُ الحَرَارةِ الذِي بَلَغَ النِّهَايَةَ في الغَلَيانِ.
الحَمِيمِ – الماءِ الذِي بَلَغَ النِّهَايَةَ فِي الحَرَارةِ.
الحَمِيمِ – الماءِ الذِي بَلَغَ النِّهَايَةَ فِي الحَرَارةِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 46
46. like the scalding water which has reached the ultimate degree of boiling.
{خُذُوهُ فَٱعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ}
(47) – وَيُقَالُ للزِّبَانِيةِ مِنْ حَرَسِ جَهَنَّمَ: خُذَوا هذا المُجْرِمَ الأَثِيمَ فَادْفَعُوهُ دَفْعاً بِغلْظَةٍ وَعُنْفٍ إِلى وَسَطِ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ لِيَنَالَ جَزَاءَهُ عَلَى كُفْرِهِ وَآثامِهِ.
اعتِلُوهُ – ادفَعُوهُ أَوْ جُرُّوهُ بغلْظَةٍ وَعُنْفٍ.
سَوَاءِ الجَحِيمِ – وَسَطِهَا.
اعتِلُوهُ – ادفَعُوهُ أَوْ جُرُّوهُ بغلْظَةٍ وَعُنْفٍ.
سَوَاءِ الجَحِيمِ – وَسَطِهَا.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 47
47. The keepers of the Fire are told: “Seize this sinner and push him violently and coarsely into the midst of the blazing fire so he can receive the punishment for his sins and disbelief.”
{ثُمَّ صُبُّواْ فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ ٱلْحَمِيمِ}
(48) – وَيُقَالُ لِحَرَسِ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ المَلاَئِكَةِ: بَعْدَ أَنّْ تُدْخِلُوهُ وَسَطَ الجَحِيمِ، صُبُّوا فَوْقَ رَأسِهِ مِنَ الماءِ الشَّديدِ الحَرَارَةِ زِيَادَةً في العَذَابِ.
الحَمِيمِ – المَاءِ الذِي بَلَغَ النِّهايَةَ فِي الحَرَارةِ.
الحَمِيمِ – المَاءِ الذِي بَلَغَ النِّهايَةَ فِي الحَرَارةِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 48
48. The angel keepers of the Fire are told: “After you drag him into the midst of the blazing fire, pour boiling water over his head to increase the severity of his punishment.”
{ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْكَرِيمُ}
(49) – وَبَعْدَ إِدخَالِهِ إِلى سَوَاءِ الجَحِيمِ، وَصَبِّ الحَمِيمِ فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ، يُقَالُ لَهُ عَلَى سَبيلِ التَّقرِيعِ والاسْتِهزاءِ بِهِ: ذُقْ هذا العَذَابَ المُذِلَّ المُهِينَ اليَومَ، فإِنَّكَ كُنْتَ فِي الدُّنيا تَزْعُمُ أَنَّكَ العَزِيزُ في قَومِكَ، الكَريمُ في حَسَبِكَ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 49
49. After he is admitted to the midst of the blazing fire and boiling water has been poured over his head, he is told rebukingly and mockingly: “Taste this humiliating punishment today! You used to claim in your worldly life that you were mighty and honourable among your people.”
{إِنَّ هَـٰذَا مَا كُنتُمْ بِهِ تَمْتَرُونَ}
(50) – وهذا العَذَابُ المُذِلُّ المُهِينُ، الذِي تَتَذَوَّقُونَ طَعْمَهُ اليَوْمَ، هُوَ العَذَابُ الذِي كُنتُم تَتَشَكَّكُونَ فِيهِ يَوْمَ كُنتُم في الدُّنيا، ولا تَعْتَقِدُونَ أَنَّ المُكَذِّبِينَ سَيُلاَقُونَ شيئاً مِنْهُ، فَهَا أَنتُمْ قَدْ لَقيتُمُوهُ اليَوْمَ فَذُوقُوهُ.
بِهِ تمترُونَ – تُجَادِلُونَ فِيهِ وتُمَارُون.
بِهِ تمترُونَ – تُجَادِلُونَ فِيهِ وتُمَارُون.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 50
50. And this humiliating punishment that you undergo today, is the punishment that you used to doubt in your worldly life. You did not think that the unbelievers would experience any of this punishment. But you have received it today, taste it then!
{إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِي مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ}
(51) – وَبَعدَ أَنْ ذَكَرَ اللهُ تَعَالَى الأَشْقِياءَ وَحَالَهم يَوْمَ القِيَامةِ، وَمَا يُلاَقُونَهُ مِنْ أهوالٍ وعَذابٍ، أَتبَع ذَلِكَ بِبَيَانِ حَالِ المؤْمِنينَ الصَّالِحِينَ في ذَلِكَ اليَومِ الشَّدِيدِ الهَوْلِ، فَقَالَ تَعَالَى: إِنَّ الذِينَ اتَّقَوا اللهَ في الدُّنيا سَيكُونُونَ في مَكَانٍ يُقِيمُونَ فيهِ، وَيَأْمَنُونَ فيهِ المَوْتَ وَالهَمَّ والحُزْنَ والعَذَابَ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 51
51. After Allah Almighty has mentioned the sinners and the suffering they will face on the Day of Resurrection, He continues by showing the state of the good believers on that terrible day. Those who feared Allah in their life will have a safe place to reside in and will be secured against death, worry, grief and punishment.
{فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ}
{جَنَّاتٍ}
(52) – وَسَيكُونُونَ في حَدَائِقَ وَارِفَةِ الظِّلاَلِ، كَثِيرَةِ الفَواكِهِ، كَثِيرةِ المِياهِ، وَالأنهارُ تَسْرَحُ في أَرْجَائِها، وَسَيكُونُ لَهُمْ حَقُّ التَّمتُّعِ بِجَميعِ ما فِيها منَ النَّعِيم بِدُونِ حِسَابٍ ولا تَحدِيدٍ.
(52) – وَسَيكُونُونَ في حَدَائِقَ وَارِفَةِ الظِّلاَلِ، كَثِيرَةِ الفَواكِهِ، كَثِيرةِ المِياهِ، وَالأنهارُ تَسْرَحُ في أَرْجَائِها، وَسَيكُونُ لَهُمْ حَقُّ التَّمتُّعِ بِجَميعِ ما فِيها منَ النَّعِيم بِدُونِ حِسَابٍ ولا تَحدِيدٍ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 52
52. They will be in shady gardens where there are bountiful fruit, plentiful water and many rivers running in all directions. They will have a right to enjoy all the blessings in them without limit or restriction.
{يَلْبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُّتَقَابِلِينَ}
{مُّتَقَابِلِينَ}
(53) – ويَلبَسُونَ، وَهُم في هذا النَّعِيمِ، ثِيَاباً مِنَ الحَريرِ الرَّفِيعِ (سُنَدُسٍ)، وَثِيَاباً مِنْ قماشٍ مُزَيَّنٍ بأَشْياءَ ذَاتِ بَريقٍ وَلَمَعَانٍ (إِستَبْرَقٍ)، وَيَجْلِسُونَ في الجَنَّةِ عَلَى سُرُرٍ وَهُمْ مُتَقَابِلُونَ شَأْنَ المُتَحَابِّينَ الذِينَ يُقْبِلُ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ في الحَدِيثِ، وَذلِكَ زِيَادَةً في الإِينَاسِ.
السُّندُسُ – رَقِيقُ الدِّيبَاجِ.
(53) – ويَلبَسُونَ، وَهُم في هذا النَّعِيمِ، ثِيَاباً مِنَ الحَريرِ الرَّفِيعِ (سُنَدُسٍ)، وَثِيَاباً مِنْ قماشٍ مُزَيَّنٍ بأَشْياءَ ذَاتِ بَريقٍ وَلَمَعَانٍ (إِستَبْرَقٍ)، وَيَجْلِسُونَ في الجَنَّةِ عَلَى سُرُرٍ وَهُمْ مُتَقَابِلُونَ شَأْنَ المُتَحَابِّينَ الذِينَ يُقْبِلُ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ في الحَدِيثِ، وَذلِكَ زِيَادَةً في الإِينَاسِ.
السُّندُسُ – رَقِيقُ الدِّيبَاجِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 53
53. In Paradise, they will wear clothes of fine silk decorated with shiny ornaments and brocade. They will sit on couches facing each other, like people who like one another, and will exchange conversation to thus add to their delight.
{كَذَلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ}
{زَوَّجْنَاهُم}
(54) – وَفَوْقَ هذا العَطَاءِ الكَرِيمِ فإِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالى مَنَحَهُمْ زَوْجَاتٍ حِسَاناً وَاسِعَاتِ العُيُون (عِينٍ).
زَوَّجْنَاهُمْ – قَرَنَّاهُمْ.
(54) – وَفَوْقَ هذا العَطَاءِ الكَرِيمِ فإِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالى مَنَحَهُمْ زَوْجَاتٍ حِسَاناً وَاسِعَاتِ العُيُون (عِينٍ).
زَوَّجْنَاهُمْ – قَرَنَّاهُمْ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 54
54. In addition to all that generous blessing, Allah Almighty will grant them beautiful wives with big, lustrous eyes.
{يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ آمِنِينَ}
{فَاكِهَةٍ} {آمِنِينَ}
(55) – وَيَطلُبُونَ مَا يَشْتَهُونَ مِنْ أَنواعِ الفَاكِهَةِ وَهُمْ آمِنُونَ مِنْ أَنْ تَنْقَطِعَ عَنْهُم، وَمِنْ أَنْ يُصِيبَهُمْ مِنْها أذًى.
يَدْعُونَ – يَطْلُبُونَ وَيَتَمَنَّوْنَ.
(55) – وَيَطلُبُونَ مَا يَشْتَهُونَ مِنْ أَنواعِ الفَاكِهَةِ وَهُمْ آمِنُونَ مِنْ أَنْ تَنْقَطِعَ عَنْهُم، وَمِنْ أَنْ يُصِيبَهُمْ مِنْها أذًى.
يَدْعُونَ – يَطْلُبُونَ وَيَتَمَنَّوْنَ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 55
55. They can ask for all kinds of fruit that they wish for, and they will feel secure that it will never cease and that no harm shall come to them from this fruit.
{لاَ يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا ٱلْمَوْتَ إِلاَّ ٱلْمَوْتَةَ ٱلأُولَىٰ وَوَقَاهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ}
{وَوَقَاهُمْ}
(56) – وَلاَ يَخْشَوْنَ في الجَنَّةِ مَوْتاً أَبَداً، بَعْدَ أَنْ ذَاقُوا، طَعْمَ المَوْتَةِ الأُولى حِينَ انْقِضَاءِ آجَالِهمْ فِي الحَيَاةِ الدُّنيا، وَقَدْ وَقَاهُمُ اللهُ وَنَجَّاهُمْ مِنْ عَذابِ جَهَنَّمَ الأَلِيمِ.
(56) – وَلاَ يَخْشَوْنَ في الجَنَّةِ مَوْتاً أَبَداً، بَعْدَ أَنْ ذَاقُوا، طَعْمَ المَوْتَةِ الأُولى حِينَ انْقِضَاءِ آجَالِهمْ فِي الحَيَاةِ الدُّنيا، وَقَدْ وَقَاهُمُ اللهُ وَنَجَّاهُمْ مِنْ عَذابِ جَهَنَّمَ الأَلِيمِ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 56
56. In Paradise, they will not fear death at all after having experienced a first death here below when their life had come to an end. Allah preserved and saved them from the grievous punishment of the blazing fire.
{فَضْلاً مِّن رَّبِّكَ ذَلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ}
(57) – وَقَدْ أَنْجَاهُمُ اللهُ تَعَالى مِنْ عَذابِ الجَحِيمِ، وَآمَنَهُمْ مِنْ خَوْفِ المَوْتِ تَفَضُّلاً مِنْهُ عَلَيهِمْ، وَإِحسَاناً مِنْهُ إِليهِمْ، وهذا الذِي فَازَ بِهِ هؤلاءِ الكِرامُ البَرَرَةُ، مِنْ عَطَاءِ رَبِّهِمْ، وَفَضْلِهِ، وَكَرمِهِ، هُوَ الفَوزُ العَظِيمُ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 57
57. Allah Almighty saved them from the torture of the fire and He secured them from the fear of death as a bounty from Him, and kindness to them. The Lord’s blessing, kindness and generosity are the supreme achievements which those honourable people gained.
{فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَاهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ}

Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 58
58. We have made this Quran clear, easy and evident. We send it down in your language and theirs so that they may understand its meanings and grasp its objectives, thus they will believe in it and submit to the Truth.
{فَٱرْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُمْ مُّرْتَقِبُونَ}
(59) – فَانْتَظِرْ مَا يَحِلُّ بِهِمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ مُنْتَظِرُونَ مَا يَحْلُّ بِكَ، وَسَيَعْلَمُونَ لمنْ يَكُونُ النّصْرُ والغَلَبةُ والظَّفَرُ، وَعُلُوُّ الكَلِمَةِ في الدُّنيا وَالآخِرَةِ.
فَارتَقِبْ – فَانتَظِرْ مَا يَحِلُّ بهمُ.
إِنَّهُمْ مُرتَقِبُونَ – إِنَّهمْ مُنْتَظِرُونَ مَا يَحِلُّ بِكَ.
فَارتَقِبْ – فَانتَظِرْ مَا يَحِلُّ بهمُ.
إِنَّهُمْ مُرتَقِبُونَ – إِنَّهمْ مُنْتَظِرُونَ مَا يَحِلُّ بِكَ.
Surah Ad-Dukhan: Verse 59
59. So wait for what will become of them, for they too are waiting to see what will become of you. They will soon know who will be the victor, and whose word will prevail in this life and the Hereafter.
