Who constructed a wall between the people and Gog and Magog?
Dhul Qarnain was a righteous and powerful king who traveled across the world. When he reached a place between two mountains, he encountered a people who could hardly understand a word. They pleaded for his help against the corruption of Gog and Magog, offering him a tribute. He refused the payment, relying instead on Allah's provision, and asked them to assist him with physical labor to build the barrier.
Quranic Evidence |
(They pleaded, "O Zul-Qarnain! Surely Gog and Magog are spreading corruption throughout the land. Should we pay you tribute, provided that you build a wall between us and them?" He responded, "What my Lord has provided for me is far better. But assist me with resources, and I will build a barrier between you and them.")
Scholarly Insight: Dhul Qarnain's use of iron blocks (Zubar al-Hadid) and molten copper (Qitr) represents an early and sophisticated form of engineering mentioned in the Quran. The barrier is described as a "Radm," which is even stronger than a "Sadd," as it fills the entire space between the mountains, making it impenetrable until the appointed time of the Hereafter.
