Which Divine Books are mentioned in the Noble Quran?
ما الكتب المنزلة التي ذكرت في القرآن الكريم؟
1. The Holy Quran | القرآن الكريم
(Ramaḍân is the month in which the Quran was revealed as a guide for humanity...) [2:185]
(Do they not then reflect on the Quran?...) [4:82]
(When the Quran is recited, listen to it attentively...) [7:204]
(Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran so that you may understand.) [12:2]
(Alif-Lãm-Ra. These are the verses of the Book; the clear Quran.) [15:1]
(It is a Quran We have revealed in stages...) [17:106]
(We have not revealed the Quran to you O Prophet to cause you distress,) [20:2]
(Had We sent down this Quran upon a mountain, you would have certainly seen it humbled...) [59:21]
(أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْآنَ...) [النساء: ٨٢]
(وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُ وَأَنصِتُوا...) [الأعراف: ٢٠٤]
(إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ) [يوسف: ٢]
(الر ۚ تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ وَقُرْآنٍ مُّبِينٍ) [الحجر: ١]
(وَقُرْآنًا فَرَقْنَاهُ لِتَقْرَأَهُ عَلَى النَّاسِ عَلَىٰ مُكْثٍ...) [الإسراء: ١٠٦]
(مَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ لِتَشْقَىٰ) [طه: ٢]
(لَوْ أَنزَلْنَا هَـٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ عَلَىٰ جَبَلٍ لَّرَأَيْتَهُ خَاشِعًا...) [الحشر: ٢١]
2. The Book of Psalms | الزبور
(Surely, following the heavenly Record, We decreed in the Scriptures: "My righteous servants shall inherit the land.") [21:105]
3. The Torah and the Gospel | التوراة والإنجيل
- (He has revealed to you the Book in truth... And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.) [3:3]
- (O People of the Scripture, why do you argue about Abraham while the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed until after him?) [3:65]
- (And We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light...) [5:46]
- (It is a true promise binding upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an.) [9:111]
- (That is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is as a plant...) [48:29]
(يَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لِمَ تُحَاجُّونَ فِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمَا أُنزِلَتِ التَّوْرَاةُ وَالْإِنجِيلُ إِلَّا مِن بَعْدِهِ) [آل عمران: ٦٥]
(وَآتَيْنَاهُ الْإِنجِيلَ فِيهِ هُدًى وَنُورٌ...) [المائدة: ٤٦]
(وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنجِيلِ وَالْقُرْآنِ) [التوبة: ١١١]
(ذَٰلِكَ مَثَلُهُمْ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ ۚ وَمَثَلُهُمْ فِي الْإِنجِيلِ كَزَرْعٍ...) [الفتح: ٢٩]
4. The Scriptures (Suhuf) | صحف إبراهيم وموسى
(Indeed, this is in the former scriptures, The scriptures of Abraham and Moses.) [87:18-19]
(Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses and of Abraham, who fulfilled his obligations?) [53:36-37]
(أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِي صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ الَّذِي وَفَّىٰ) [النجم: ٣٦-٣٧]
Scholarly Insight: Believing in all the Divine Books is a pillar of faith in Islam. The mention of the Suhuf (Scriptures) of Ibrahim and Musa reminds us that the message of monotheism (Tawhid) has been consistent throughout the history of Prophethood, long before the revelation of the Torah and the Quran.
