What are the days of the week mentioned in the Noble Quran?
The Holy Quran explicitly mentions two days of the week by name: Friday (Al-Jumu'ah) and Saturday (As-Sabt). Friday is highlighted for its congregational prayer, while Saturday is mentioned regarding the Sabbath laws given to previous nations.
1. Friday (Al-Jumu'ah)
(O believers! When the call to prayer is made on Friday, then proceed diligently to the remembrance of Allah and leave off your business. That is best for you, if only you knew.) [62:9]
2. Saturday (As-Sabt)
Saturday is mentioned in several verses, primarily concerning the "People of the Sabbath":
(You are already aware of those of you who broke the Sabbath. We said to them, "Be disgraced apes!") [2:65]
(...We also warned them, "Do not break the Sabbath," and took from them a firm covenant.) [4:154]
Scholarly Note: While these are the only two specific weekdays named, the Quran often refers to "days" in a general sense or in relation to the creation of the heavens and the earth, which took place in six days (periods).
