Quranic Evidence |
(He has only forbidden you to eat carrion, blood, swine, and what is slaughtered in the name of any other than Allah.) [2:173]
(Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah, and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns...) [5:3]
Scholarly Insight: These prohibitions are rooted in the preservation of human health and spiritual purity. For instance, the prohibition of "Maytatah" (carrion) and blood prevents the consumption of toxins and bacteria that accumulate after death. Furthermore, the Quran establishes a vital principle of mercy in the same verses: that in cases of extreme necessity (to save a life), these prohibitions can be relaxed, showcasing Allah's compassion for His creation.
