Sufficient for Us is Allah A Message of Faith in Times of Fear

This Friday on June 20 2025 Dr Khaled Al Houli delivered a moving and powerful khutbah that echoed deep spiritual truths and timeless guidance for every believer. The central theme of the sermon was built on a single profound phrase repeated in the lives of two of the greatest prophets Sufficient for us is Allah and He is the best disposer of affairs.

The Opening Reminder Our Journey to Allah

Dr Al Houli began by praising Allah the Creator of the heavens and the earth. He reminded us that life is a journey that inevitably ends with us standing before our Lord. Allah has said

Fear a Day when you will return to Allah

This is not just a statement but a truth that demands preparation reflection and accountability.

The sermon emphasized that piety is not just about ritual but about living with awareness of Allah in every moment. Allah commands us to fear Him and to be mindful of what we send ahead for tomorrow. These verses are calls to wake up and realize that every action is recorded and every soul will be compensated for what it has done.

The Power of Trust in Allah

The heart of the khutbah centered on the phrase Hasbunallahu wa nimal wakeel which means Sufficient for us is Allah and He is the best disposer of affairs. Dr Al Houli highlighted how this powerful statement was uttered by two mighty prophets at moments of great danger and fear.

The Story of Ibrahim
When Prophet Ibrahim was thrown into the blazing fire by his people he said nothing but Sufficient for me is Allah. Even as the angels came to ask if he wanted help he refused all but the help of his Creator. Gabriel asked him Do you need anything and Ibrahim replied Not from you Allah is sufficient for me. That level of trust caused Allah to command the fire

Be coolness and peace upon Ibrahim

The fire did not harm him. Instead it became a symbol of divine intervention and miraculous protection.

The Response of the Prophet Muhammad
Dr Al Houli also recounted the moment after the Battle of Uhud. The Muslims had suffered losses. The enemy was regrouping. Fear was real. Yet when the Prophet heard that the enemy might return he calmly said Sufficient for us is Allah and He is the best disposer of affairs.

Rather than retreating in fear the Prophet moved forward in faith. Allah rewarded the Muslims by turning the situation in their favor. They returned to Medina in peace. Not a scratch was added to their wounds. Instead Allah sent them provision and peace. This shows how trust in Allah can turn defeat into strength.

When Fear Grows Faith Must Grow Stronger

Dr Al Houli reminded us that fear is natural but it must be met with belief. The Quran says that when people tried to frighten the believers telling them the enemies had gathered the response was not panic. It was more faith. The believers said Sufficient for us is Allah.

This the sermon emphasized is the difference between true belief and empty words. Faith is not shown in comfort. It shines in hardship. When things go wrong when fear rises the faithful grow stronger in their trust that Allah is enough.

The Deception of the Devil

Another theme in the khutbah was the way Shaytan plays on fear. He whispers that enemies are too strong that you are too weak that you will be defeated. But Allah responds clearly

Do not fear them Fear Me if you are believers

This is not a suggestion It is a command.

Dr Al Houli made it clear that believers must always measure their reality through the lens of divine truth not worldly appearances. If Allah is with you no one can overcome you. If Allah is against someone no force can save them. The Quran affirms this with the verse

Allah has written Verily I will prevail I and My messengers. Indeed Allah is All Powerful Almighty

Living with Hasbunallahu wa nimal wakeel

In practical terms the khutbah encouraged us to live this phrase. Say it when afraid. Say it when uncertain. Say it when hopeless. This is not just a quote for prophets. It is a shield for anyone who believes.

Dr Al Houli mentioned a narration from the Prophet about the angel Israfil. He has already placed the trumpet to his mouth bowed his head and is awaiting Allahs command to blow it and begin the Day of Judgment. When the companions heard this they asked What should we do The Prophet said

Say Sufficient for us is Allah and He is the best disposer of affairs

Guarding the Tongue and Staying Humble

As the khutbah came to a close Dr Al Houli addressed another major problem in our time speaking without knowledge. He warned against being someone who comments on every issue who spreads fear or confusion especially on topics they do not understand.

The Prophet warned

A man may say a word displeasing to Allah without giving it thought and fall because of it into Hellfire for seventy years

This is a serious matter. We are accountable for our words. The Quran reminds us

Indeed the hearing the sight and the heart all of them will be questioned

Do not speak in every matter. Do not feel the need to have an opinion on every crisis. Especially if it leads to fear mongering falsehood or unnecessary division among Muslims. Speak what is good or remain silent.

A Final Prayer and Call to Action

To conclude Dr Khaled Al Houli prayed for the protection of Islam and Muslims. He asked Allah to defeat the enemies of faith to secure the lands of the believers and to bless us with peace and strength. He urged us all to remember the greatness of Allah to rely on Him in all things and to always say with full conviction

Sufficient for us is Allah and He is the best disposer of affairs

This sermon was not just a lesson in history or theology. It was a wake up call for the heart a reminder to let go of fear to anchor ourselves in faith and to walk through this world trusting the One who controls it all.
