Why did Allah destroy Qaroun along with his house?
لماذا خسف الله بقارون وبداره الأرض؟
Qaroun's ultimate sin was his spiritual blindness. When reminded of Allah's favors, he explicitly rejected the idea of divine blessing, claiming his fortune was earned solely through his personal expertise. This vanity was further displayed when he paraded his wealth in front of his people, causing the worldly-minded to envy him while ignoring the warning of the righteous.
لم يكن هلاك قارون بسبب غناه، بل بسبب جحوده وكبره. لقد رد على ناصحيه بكلمة جسدت طغيانه: "إنما أوتيته على علم عندي"، فألغى مسبب الأسباب ونسب الفضل لذاته. ثم خرج على قومه في زينته ليفتن الضعفاء بماله، فكانت النتيجة أن غار ماله وجاهه في أعماق الأرض.
(He replied, “I have been granted all this because of some knowledge I have.” Did he not know that Allah had already destroyed some from the generations before him who were far superior to him in power and greater in accumulating wealth? There will be no need for the wicked to be asked about their sins.)
(قَالَ إِنَّمَا أُوتِيتُهُ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عِندِي ۚ أَوَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَهْلَكَ مِن قَبْلِهِ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ مَنْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُ قُوَّةً وَأَكْثَرَ جَمْعًا ۚ وَلَا يُسْأَلُ عَن ذُنُوبِهِمُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ) [القصص: ٧٨]
(So he came out before his people in his adornment. Those who desired the worldly life said, "Oh, would that we had like what was given to Qaroun. Indeed, he is one of great fortune.")
(فَخَرَجَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ فِي زِينَتِهِ ۖ قَالَ الَّذِينَ يُرِيدُونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا يَا لَيْتَ لَنَا مِثْلَ مَا أُوتِيَ قَارُونُ إِنَّهُ لَذُو حَظٍّ عَظِيمٍ) [القصص: ٧٩]
