(Surely those nearest to your Lord are not too proud to worship Him. They glorify Him. And to Him they prostrate.)

(إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ عِندَ رَبِّكَ لَا يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَيُسَبِّحُونَهُ ۥ وَلَهُ ۥ يَسۡجُدُونَ ۩)

(To Allah alone bow down all those in the heavens and the earth - willingly or unwillingly - as do their shadows, morning and evening.)

(وَلِلَّهِ يَسۡجُدُ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ طَوۡعً۬ا وَكَرۡهً۬ا وَظِلَـٰلُهُم بِٱلۡغُدُوِّ وَٱلۡأَسَالِ ۩)

(And to Allah alone bows down whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth of living creatures... They fear their Lord above them, and they do what they are commanded.)

(وَلِلَّهِ يَسۡجُدُ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مِن دَآبَّةٍ۬ وَٱلۡمَلَـٰٓٮِٕكَةُ وَهُمۡ لَا يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ ۩)

(...Indeed, when it is recited to those who were gifted with knowledge before it, they fall upon their faces in prostration... and it increases them in humility.)

(إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡعِلۡمَ مِن قَبۡلِهِۦۤ إِذَا يُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡہِمۡ يَخِرُّونَ لِلۡأَذۡقَانِ سُجَّدً۬ا ۩)

(...Whenever the revelations of the Most Compassionate were recited to them, they fell down, prostrating and weeping.)

(إِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡہِمۡ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ خَرُّواْ سُجَّدً۬ا وَبُكِيًّ۬ا ۩)

(Do you not see that to Allah bow down all those in the heavens and all those on the earth... Surely Allah does what He wills.)

(أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَسۡجُدُ لَهُ ۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَمَن فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ... ۩)

(O you who believe! Bow down, and prostrate yourselves, and worship your Lord...)

(يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱرۡڪَعُواْ وَٱسۡجُدُواْ... ۩)

(When it is said to them, "Prostrate to the Most Compassionate," they ask in disgust, "What is the Most Compassionate?"...)

(وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱسۡجُدُواْ لِلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ قَالُواْ وَمَا ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنُ... ۩)

(...Allah! There is no god worthy of worship except Him, the Lord of the Mighty Throne.)

(أَلَّا يَسۡجُدُواْ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى يُخۡرِجُ ٱلۡخَبۡءَ... ۩)

(The only true believers in Our revelation are those who - when it is recited to them - fall into prostration...)

(إِنَّمَا يُؤۡمِنُ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُڪِّرُواْ بِہَا خَرُّواْ سُجَّدً۬ا... ۩)

(But if the pagans are too proud, then those nearest to your Lord glorify Him day and night...)

(فَإِنِ ٱسۡتَڪۡبَرُواْ فَٱلَّذِينَ عِندَ رَبِّكَ يُسَبِّحُونَ لَهُ ۥ... ۩)

(Instead, prostrate to Allah and worship Him alone!)

(فَٱسجُدُواْ لِلَّهِ وَٱعۡبُدُواْ ۩)

(...And when the Quran is recited to them, they do not bow down in submission?)

(وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيۡہِمُ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ لَا يَسۡجُدُونَ ۩)

(Again, no! Never obey him! Rather, continue to prostrate and draw near to Allah.)

(كَلَّا لَا تُطِعۡهُ وَٱسۡجُدۡ وَٱقۡتَرِب ۩)

(...Then David realized that We had tested him so he asked for his Lord’s forgiveness, fell down in prostration and turned to Him in repentance.)

(...وَخَرَّ رَاكِعًا وَأَنَابَ ۩)
