When he was young he dreamt that there were 11 stars and the sun and moon were all prostrating before him. At that time, his father told him not to tell his dream to his brothers so that they do not get jealous of him.
After many years and hardship, Yusuf pbuh sat on the throne in Egypt and when he was reunited with his brothers, he told them to go fetch his parents from Philistine so they could all live in Egypt together.
When they entered the premises, they all prostrated before Yusuf pbuh as a sign of respect and that’s when he told his father that his dream had been explained. The eleven stars were his eleven brothers, and his mother and father were the moon and sun.
(“When they entered Yusuf pbuh’s presence, he received his parents ˹graciously˺ and said, “Enter Egypt, Allah willing, in security.”“Then he raised his parents to the throne, and they all fell down in prostration to Yusuf pbuh,1 who then said, “O my dear father! This is the interpretation of my old dream. My Lord has made it come true. He was truly kind to me when He freed me from prison, and brought you all from the desert after Satan had ignited rivalry between me and my siblings.2 Indeed my Lord is subtle in fulfilling what He wills. Surely He ˹alone˺ is the All-Knowing, All-Wise.”) Yusuf 12: 99-100
