1- The boat that he damaged: A tyrannical king used to confiscate every boat that was in good condition. Al-Khidr bore a hole in the poor men’s boat so that the king would not take it as it was their source of earnings. It was better for them to have a damaged boat than to have their boat taken from them unjustly.
(“As for the ship, it belonged to some poor people, working at sea. So I intended to damage it, for there was a ˹tyrant˺ king ahead of them who seizes every ˹good˺ ship by force). (Al-Kahf 18: 79)
2 The young boy that he killed: He was going to turn out to be a disbeliever when he grew up. His parents were good believers and therefore Al-Khdir, with guidance from Allah, killed him so that he would not become a burden for them.
(“And as for the boy, his parents were ˹true˺ believers, and we feared that he would pressure them into defiance and disbelief. So we hoped that their Lord would give them another, more virtuous and caring in his place.) (Al-Kahf 18: 80-81)
1- As for the town whose people refused to feed Al-Khidr and Moses, peace be upon him, there was a wall about to fall in it, but Al-Khidr repaired it, so that it would not fall. There was a treasure under the wall, and there were two orphan children in the city whose father was righteous, so Allah Almighty wanted the two children to grow up and find the treasure under the wall. Had the wall fallen, people would have found the treasure and taken it.
“And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city, and under the wall was a treasure that belonged to them, and their father had been a righteous man. So your Lord willed that these children should come of age and retrieve their treasure, as a mercy from your Lord. I did not do it ˹all˺ on my own. This is the explanation of what you could not bear patiently.” (Al-Kahf 18:82)
