A master’s thesis titled “Topics of Quranic Studies by Dr. Assaad Mahmoud Homad (d. 1432 AH) in the Tafsir Aysar Al-Tafsir: Compilation and Study” was discussed at the College of Literature, Department of Quranic Studies, at the Iraqi University.
The thesis, presented by student Ahmed Hadi Dhaidan, aimed to compile and study Quranic sciences through Dr. Homad’s interpretation. The study is considered a contribution to the renewal of Quranic sciences added by scholars in contemporary authorship. It sought to identify the most authentic views on issues and topics in Quranic sciences by comparing them with the opinions of prominent interpreters and authors, analyzing and discussing these views, and verifying the cited narrations to assess their authenticity. The study also examined how Dr. Homad critiqued opinions based on weak narrations and unconventional views that are not relied upon.
The thesis consisted of four chapters. The first chapter focused on the life of Dr. Assaad Mahmoud Homad (may Allah have mercy on him) and an introduction to his interpretation. The second chapter emphasized the reasons for revelation, while the third addressed abrogation, abrogated verses, and Quranic readings. The fourth chapter focused on Quranic stories, parables, and miracles.
